Hi,

I would like to extend my mother`s stay as visitor online but I have issue with some points..
Where it says:
How long are you planning to stay in Canada? What shall I put there?
Temporarily less than 6 months or temporarily more than 6 months?

She is already in Canada and I want to extend her stay.
Thanks for your responses

You should state your intentions.... so you are the only one who can answer that question.

I think you did not get my question.
After this extension, she will go back home of course. I want her to stay for another 6 months.
But when they ask How long are you planning to stay in Canada?
Temporarily less than 6 months(( Is it From the extension date?) or temporarily more than 6 months? (Is it from when she entered the country?) This is where I am confused. I just want her to stay another six months. She spent 5 months already.

You need to explain yourself clearly if you want people to "get your question".

You are overthinking. The question is quite clear.... the application questions ONLY APPLY for that application unless otherwise stated.

I am not overthinking, if it is clear for you, it`s not the case for me otherwise I wouldn`t be here asking questions if I knew the answer.

Thanks anyway

I think the question you are talking about is on the list of questions to see if you are eligible to apply online for the extension. You could choose the temporarily more than 6 months and then when you apply you can ask for 6 or 7 months. On the actual application it asks you to indicate the length of stay by listing a "from" & "to" date. You can then put the "from" date as the date her original 6 months would expire and the "to" date would be the date of 6 or 7 months from now.

If you answer the question as Temporarily less than 6 months, you would just need to ask for up to 6 months. That question is asked so CIC can determine if you are eligible to apply for the extension online or if combined with the other questions, they can determine what you need.

So, it kind of depends on what you want to ask for. I hope this makes sense and helped in some way. :)
