Hi All.

Would like to seek your help, we already applied for the extension of our parents extension stay here last March 2015 and just last Friday we got an update with the application that they are now required to take a medical exam.

My question is how long are they still allowed to stay here in Canada if we choose not to take the medical requirement which is a little costly considering they are planning to leave and go back home by next month. Does it have any effect on their record as well?

Any inputs will help us a lot here.

Thanks.

If they refuse to do the medical you can expect their extension application to be refused.

thanks for the reply, but do you have an idea how long can they still be allowed to stay here, or they have to out of the country now not waiting for the 30 days period as required for my parents to submit the medical?

I believe their stay will be extended by another 06 months if they take medical exam, but as some one said before, their extension application will be refused if they decide not to take medical test as asked by CIC. In any case, they can stay in Canada on implied status until the final decision is made on their extension application.

Hi speakvishal,

Thanks for your input, it just that it is too much costly for us to pay the $800 medical fee which is good if they are staying for a little longer but they are already decided not too.

Our main concern is how long can they still stay, shall we await the refusal by the CIC before we bought ticket for them or shall we start shopping around for ticket now?

I believe, CIC gives you 30 days notice to leave Canada when such applications are refused.
