Extending work PGWP Permit while waiting for PR application after receiving ITA

I have 4 months left of my PGWP and the processing time for PR is 6 months or more according to the CIC website.

This has probably been asked before, I tried all the keywords on search tab but can't find a discussion about this.

Can one apply for a work permit extension while waiting for PR status?

Yes, you should be able to apply for Bridging Open Work Permit.
