Hello everyone,
My husband is currently quarantining with me in Canada and he is a US Citizen who is also a member of the NEXUS Trusted Traveler Program. He's staying with me until the Government reopens the US-Canada land border as it is currently closed. When he entered Canada, he was admitted and not issued a visitor record. So he was given the usual 6 month entry.
However, it is indeed possible that by the time his status is due to expire the border may still be closed, therefore we would probably be looking to extend his stay in Canada and get him a visitor record. Of course there's no guarantee that IRCC would grant this.
I am aware that the moment that a denial is issued he would fall out of status and be directed to leave Canada without delay. He wouldn't have a problem doing this, but if he's fallen out of status, would that be considered an Immigration Violation as per the NEXUS Rules, therefore revoking his membership for 10 years? If so, we would be better off him not applying for an extension and have him return to Blaine.
I am aware that I could sponsor him for Canadian Permanent Residency, however he has brought a house in Blaine and wishes to continue to live there.
Thanks!
