Extending Temp Working Visa while awaiting PR through PNP

Our current status: Myself and my 'common law partner are in BC Vancouver on a temporary working visa (issued by SWAP so it is an open visa) that expires June 27th. We have sent our forms to the PNP and will then follow the PR application. We are aware that we do not have implied status and must extend our visas quickly so that we are legal to work while we await permanent resident status. My partner is a Carpenter, NOC 7172, skill level B.

My question:

Do we have to apply for an LMO before we apply for an extension? Is it always necessary to apply for an LMO when applying for an extension or is there any particular route that we should be taking to ensure that we are working legally while we await PR.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
An extremely stressed and worried temporary worker :-(

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
If you would get accepted by Bc Pnp you can extend your work permit attaching the copy of BC PNP acceptation letter . You do NOT need the LMO to extend your work permit if u are already accepted

Your reply couldn't have come sooner we were about to send our LMO application off tomorrow!!!

I just have one more question. So what happens if we do not get our PNP confirmation letter back in time to send off our extension application. Our current visa expires on the 27th of June which is 8 weeks. Should we send our Extension application anyways with a a copy of the application for the PNP and then send the PNP confirmation letter once we receive it . Will this ensure that we have implied status?

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply to my question. I cant tell you how thankful I am!!! :-*

As far as I am aware and this is because a friend is going through a similar process....as long as you send off your extension before the end of your current work visa... you will be on implied status pending the outcome of your PNP application and can continue to work under the same conditions your original work visa states.

You can hope that the positive PNP notification comes before Vegreville deny your extension, and send the additional paperwork to them to support your new application.

If Vegreville do decline your extension then you have to stop working and wait for the PNP to be approved and reapply.
