Extended Canadian PR before expiring

Friends, I wanted to understand, if I can request my Canadian PR expiry date to be extended? I'm waiting for my employer to find a role for me in Canada?
If yes, what documents will they require?

No, Actual PR card, haven't entered Canada (after Soft Landing) and its expiring in 4-5 months. SHall I request for renew or any extension?

You may not have met the residency requirements.

If you haven't been in Canada for 4.5+ years, you've not met the residency requirements and would be refused and lose your PR status if you tried to renew. Do you have a reason you've not met the residency obligation?
 
I think that, if you haven't been in Canada for the last 4 years, you have lost the possibility of being a PR.
