hello again everybody,

i am here in Canada since April and get a stamp in my passport, that i can stay till Oktober. Now i would like to extend my stay in Canada for 6 month. I will include in my application a sponsor-letter from my fiance and all other documents i need to send. My question is, should i include in my application a proof of my relationship with my fiance ? like pictures and emails we sended ? we know each other for 2 years. Should my fiance put a letter from his employer into the application ? And would it help, when i put a letter from his parents in the application, that they will support me too ? And is it a good, to put as reason to extend my stay: `establish our common-law relationship` ? Thank you kindly for any informations or answers ! :)

Just will out the form. They they ask for very specific things. A letter of support from your fiancee is enough to show the relationship. A statement from your Canadian bank account will show how you plan on supporting yourself.

It shouldn't be too hard. My wife got two visa extensions while we were apply for permenant residence.

i am right now filling out the form for CIC, to send it this week with all the documents via mail (not online). I am wondering, if i must attach in to the application the form `` Statutory Declaration of Common-law Union`` ?

thank you, if anybody can tell me

If you have not been in living with your fiance for the last 12 months consecutively, then no, do not include that declaration because you are not considered common law yet for CIC.

Yes, correct. You can pay online and include your receipt with your application.

hello experts,

i am waiting right now for my decision, if my extension gets approved or refused. I am wondering, if it gets refused, is there any chance that you can REapply immedialty after you receive the refusal ? I received last week my working-contract for next year from my employer in my homecountry, so that would be new proof and evidence that i would leave Canada.

thank you in advance

Hi Alurra71,

I would like to ask for some timeline when applying extension in Canada. I have applied my PR sponsorship in May2013 and landed in Canada in July2013, my visa will be expired in end of Dec, when should I apply for my extension please? I will apply on internet as I know it would be quicker. I already have my passport requested and already sent it off to my visa office too, so its make sense for me to apply for an extension until I got my passport back. How long did your wife to apply for the extension in Canada as a visitor? Thanks for advice.

You should apply for your extension roughly 30 days before your current one expires, so say sometime in Nov if your current one expires in Dec. If you have already sent your passport, you may be very close to the end already and perhaps you will not need to extend your stay anyway, but who knows. I never applied for an extension of stay, only took my paperwork directly to the CBSA so they could update me. I live very close to a border crossing. Saved me the money of doing it online as they don't charge a fee and I was never in any danger of being 'deported' persay. I don't recommend that option for everyone though.

My only concern is if you are wanting to extend your stay with your fiance and assuming you are physically living with him/her then this will mean your are in a live in relationship and therefore making it a bonafide relationship for potential spousal sponsorship. The only way its a concern is because many people will follow suit and try to skip the waiting line, this way they can physically be in Canada (potentially working cash), be with their girlfriends/boyfriends for upto 1 year and then apply for common law sponsorship
