I completed my application process on July 21, 2019 after receiving an invitation to apply. My portal showed that my application will be completed by January 21, 2020.
Every time i log in now, it shows that applications are taking longer than usual to process, is something similar happening to someone else as well?

You may be in security screening which takes longer. Have you tried calling CIC or emailing them to ask for more info?
