Express Entry Working Reference Letters

Hi All,

Please can someone assist with some information. I received by ITA and am gathering all my documents, however one of the requirements is to obtain a letter of reference from your supervisor for all the jobs you've had in the past 10 years.

I'd like to avoid requesting a letter from my current supervisor, since this would indicate to him that I intend to leave and would hurt my career advancement in case my application is rejected.

Could someone please enlighten me as to what options there are and how that has turned out for people recently?

Thanks!

Hi, unfortunately you may not have a choice. IRCC looks at a letter (on company letterhead) and signed by your supervisor/manager which describes the job duties, lists your organizational designation, states hours worked per week etc.

I have seen on this forum people providing an employment contract, payslips, and/or a letter signed by a colleague stating the particulars of the job they work in. These solutions have often failed, as IRCC insists upon the employer signed letter.

Candy,

1. Are your the principle applicant?
2. If yes you can't afford to miss an ITA
3. At some stage you need to takes risk. You have to openly discuss with your Manager not HR and share the facts openly.
If She / He is convinced, they don't hamper your future, they will agree to issue the reference letter.

4. Worst case scenario; if they think, assume you are going to quit, it is up to them. You have no control over them. Normally they will issue.
5. You already have 5 years experience; if required you can switch the job. Be optimistic. Why do you think your application would be rejected.

You have limited time. Take a wise decision, based on your situations. You don't get ITA always, but you can get another job.

The present company is not the only company, there are other companies to try. Be bold.
:)

You could have not shown this job and you could have shown this in your personal history. In your case I will suggest to go for Paystubs, Contract Letter, Appraisal Letter or any document where you could show that you are presently with current employer

Thank you so much for all the helpful replies. I think I am going to have to be bold and ask my current employer for the letter. I really don't want to mess the ITA up at all.

Thank you again!
