Hi Everyone,
I just want to share my experience. This forum has helped me a lot. Please if you have any questions regarding how I did thing. Feel free to contact.
I first landed in Canada on Study Permit in September 2015.
My whole point of sharing my experience is to tell you guys that if you know your case well and trying to comply with all requirement, go ahead and apply. Check your points under different class. I was just checking CEC class for 2 years and didn't realize that FSW is also an option.
Feel free to ask me question regarding my experience, I will try my best to answer.
Regards,
Anna
I just want to share my experience. This forum has helped me a lot. Please if you have any questions regarding how I did thing. Feel free to contact.
I first landed in Canada on Study Permit in September 2015.
- Program: Masters, University of Victoria (completed on June 12, 2017). My program was officially 2 years. I completed it early. I got a 3 years work permit.
- I received a letter of completion from UVic dated June 15th, 2017. I applied for my work permit on June 23rd and received it in September. Than I applied from my TRV and it got approved in a week.
- When I calculated my points via CRS tool after my program completion, I realized that I might have enough points to apply under the Federal skilled worker class. Since, I have 2 plus years of Experience in a job from NOC B category. I gave my IELTS on August 8th and applied for all of the documents I might need like Police Clearance Certificate. I scored high of IELTS (L: 8.5, R: 7.5; W: 7, and S: 8). I decided to create my profile. I had 485 points and got my ITA in the next draw (Cut off: 441)
- Now post ITA was the most confusing time
- I claimed points for Canadian 2 years Masters. Now there were two problems with that. It has to be two Academic years. In my case I finished my program in June (09/15 to 06/17). Now, when you think aobut Academic years, many people doesn't even have summer term. So I decided to take that risk.
- I had my letter of completion and my transcript saying degree requirement completed on June 15th, 2017. But, I did not have my degree of letter of degree confirmation (one says that requirements are complete and will be candidate for graduation in October 2017, ceremony in November, the other is given in October 2017, saying that you have been granted the degree). I know there are many threads and going through them was confusing. I called the CIC as well. In the end I decided to go a head and apply with what I had and provide a letter of explanation. Telling them when I can provide them my degree. I can even added my invitation for graduation ceremony email from the registrar office, to prove my point. Keep in mind, if you would provide explanation, CIC will likely contact for more document rather than dismissing your application.
- Another dilemma was my experience letter. I didn't have any pay stub, so I went without pay stub. Now, the best part was I was still in touch with my Manager. I worked on the letter with her. My duties and title were falling under different units in NOC. I always selected the one that was matching my duties and at the end wrote in my letter of explanation that they just don't match. Secondly, I took 6 months vacation in 3 years (Which makes my years 2 to 3 not 3). In my letter of explanation, I did clarify it my self and recalculated my points for both FSW and CRS tool and added it there, I still had more than 67 for FSW and 463 for CRS (Cut off on my draw was 441). Remember, if you have catch your mistake, you better tell it yourself than them correcting you. I worked with the Manager for around 3 weeks to get the right letter. Included everything from my annual income to my benefits. In her letter she did not say about the vacation, but it was apparent from my travel history. She printed, signed, and added her business card (No stamp because HR doesn't sign a two page letter with that much details).
- I submitted on September 21 and they requested additional documents on September 27. Schedule A, Travel history, and a document in regards to my relationship status. Now the document I had was not in English. they only gave me like 5 working days and I live in Victoria and was unable to find the translator for that language. Again I sent what I had luckily I had one English translation but it was not according to CIC. Again I added a letter of explanation. Once I got the translation I sent it through the IRCC web forum. Additional document sent on October 2nd. My next step was to submit my degree once I get it in November. But on October 30th, I received my passport request. I had to wait till November 1st because my passport was actually with CIC for my TRV stamp and today they have received it.
