Express Entry Skilled worker ITA - but entering Canada as an international student

Hello Community!

I, as many others, got my ITA in November 2020 for the EE application under skilled worker, but still waiting for the PR.
I am checking different websites and does not seem that I will get it before December 2020 as a best case scenario.

To avoid that , I am considering to apply for a PhD in Canada and go there as a student, while waiting for the EE under skilled worker to be finalized.
I know it does not sound simple, and would take your opinion and experience on that.

So waiting for my Express Entry under skilled worker, but studying in Canada as an international student for fall 2021.

You can. Do you have acceptance for Fall 2021 because it is May, and most likely you will not get a study permit by fall.

I actually do not. I wanted to check if it is something viable, and then apply.
But yes as you mentioned it might be a bit tight now.

It is possible but for a study permit you need to show strong ties and career advancement to your home country. And with an approved ITA, officers will know you are not moving temporarily. If you get admitted to a PhD program then go for it.

Hi @Naturgrl ,my husband plans to apply to EE (I will be the dependent), and I plan to study (I will bring my husband as depenednt). What happens once my husband receives an ITA? I assume I need still to complete my studies?

What will you do he receives the ITA? An ITA is just an invitation. Your choice whether to quit your studies or wait for PR. If you quit your and your husband change status to visitor and wait for PR.
