Express Entry - Please clear my confusion

Hi all,
My understanding of the process:

I need to take IELTS first and create a express entry profile. If I meet the eligibility criteria (67/100), I will be entered into a pool. I need to then keep applying for jobs in the jobs bank. Once I have a job offer, I will be "invited to apply". My application will be considered within 6 months.

1. Is my understanding of the process correct?

2. I entered my details into the eligibility calculator. Got 74 points. So, I will be entered into the pool once I create a profile. Correct? I tried the CRS tool, I am getting different points on different sites.
Background of the main applicant: 35 yrs, Married, Masters degree, 10+ yrs of work exp in a SkillA job, spouse has a bachelors degree and 10+yrs work ex in Skill A job. Both have no Canadian experience, assume both have 7+ IELTS score. Decent profiles right? Why are we getting only 340+ points? What the prob? I read on the website that invitations are being sent out for 470+ scores. Who gets 470+ out of max 500 ???
Can someone tell me if I am missing something?

3. Do I need to get a job offer to get invited? What happens after invitation - Do employers wait for 6 months ???

Hi,

You will also need to have your certifications assessed by WES. They will determine the value of the academic credentials that you have against the Canadian equivalence. Once the report is back you will submit it along with your IELTS in order to get more points and start the profile.

1. You do not need a job before you can apply. It is almost impossible to even get a job via Job bank.

2. You are correct, with an eligibility score of 74 out of 100, you can enter the pool.
With the main applicant academic qualification and years of experience, what he/she requires now is to get a very good IELTS score. The target should be getting at least 8, 7, 7,7 in Learning, Writing, speaking and Reading respectively. Anything higher will increase your CRS score by few marks. The main applicant and spouse will have to evaluate their certificates to get an ECA. The spouse too will have to write IELTS in order for you to stand a good chance. With the score stated above and ECA done for both main applicant ans spouse, I believe your score should be greater than 450

3. Like I said, you do not need a job to get an invitation to apply

To further increase your score, let the main applicant try to get IELTS score of 8.5 in Listening, 8.0 in Reading and 7.5 in both Writing and Speaking. With his score, you will get a CRS score of 452.

I tweaked around a little bit - and got 452!

So the main applicant must get a VERY high IELTS score for us to stand a chance.

Thanks a TON Dupsy21 !

Yes, that seems to be the maximum you can get for now without provincial nomination.

Another question:

After I enter the pool with say 452, I just wait. Isnt it? IF the picking scores go until 452, they send me a ITA (like they did sometime last yr) - correct?

What happens after I get an ITA? I send my docs, medicals, Police certificate, validated education credientials etc - and then if these all seem ok, will they give me a PR? How is the job bank tied up with all this? I register with the job bank after I get the ITA, will I get the PR only if I have a job?

What happens if I get a job offer from a company willing to sponsor my visa (not via job bank)? Will there be a separate route for that? Is that linked to PR or will it just be work visa?

How is the job bank tied up with all this? I register with the job bank after I get the ITA, will I get the PR only if I have a job? Job Bank is a mere formality at this point in time, has no further relevance beyond profile activation.

What happens if I get a job offer from a company willing to sponsor my visa (not via job bank)? Will there be a separate route for that? Is that linked to PR or will it just be work visa? That job offer can be linked to PR application only if it is LMIA supported as that would get you 600 points and a guaranteed ITA. Any other job offer would be irrelevant for the purposes of your current PR application.

Like falcons_Lions already said, remember you need to evaluate your education. People usually use WES for that (unless you have a medical profession), make sure to check and follow their rules for your specific country.
