Express Entry : Need Help

Hi all,

I am struggling with the Express entry program, and I would request you all to please help me in this situation.

I live in Toronto & on work permit and it is going to be expired to May 2017 (Next year). I have one and a half year of Canadian experience as a SEM specialist. I came to Canada as a student, and then after completed my MBA, I applied for the work permit. I completed my study from New Brunswick, but would prefer to stay in Ontario province.

Recently, I used the tool CRS to check my PR eligibility & I am getting 393 points via CRS tool, based on my profile (33 years old) MBA from Canadian university and validated from ECA, 1+ Canadian experience, IELTS General (L6, R 6.5, W, 6, S 6.5) overall 6.5. No LMIA, No nomination letter from Province etc.

Any help from you guys would be highly appreciated.

Your IELTS score is fairly low and you could really boost your points there, if you can get a better score.

Also, you dont need ECA for a Canadian Degree, only foreign ones.

Do you have any foreign work experience in the last 10 years you could claim for extra points?

Unless you can get to 450+ points, I would suggest you start looking into the different PNP programs, as you currently dont have enough points to get ITA on your own.

I completed my Bachelors degree from UK, so I thought to have ECA validated.

I worked in UK as a sales assistant in a supermarket, which I dont think, considered as a foreign experience.

I believe, My NOC code would be 1123 on my current job.

You can get ECA for Bachelors but your points will be based on your highest degree, Masters, so it is not required that you get an ECA for Bachelors. You could save yourself some money there.

If your sales assistant job is NOC 0, A or B and you can get an employment letter to back up the employment, then yes, you can definitely claim it for points.

Did you have a look what your CRS score would be once you complete two years in Canada and with a better language result? I would suspect it should take you much closer to 450 or even beyond, depending on whether you can get some proof for your foreign work as well and if it is a NOC 0, A or B.

In Canada, I worked as a sales assistant for a clothing company on a part time basis (20 hours) for almost a year (10 months). and I am working on my professional job since (Oct 2014- till today) but changed companies.

Before move to Canada, I was in UK as a student and then converted as work permit holder. While I was on work permit, I used to work in a supermarket Sainsburys (similar to Walmart) for more than 2 years.

I just checked the NOC list today and the code is 6421 something and I believe it comes under "C" list.

Can I utilize these above mentioned experience for express entry.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

The experience needs to be under NOC A, B or 0 to count under Express Entry.

I suggest you try to do the calculate your scores using the CRS tool based on these:

1. A tentative IELTS score of maybe band 9
2. Two year work experience (since you will have completed that before the end of your permit).

Let us know what your score will be after you've done that. Like others said, I strongly suggest you retake your IELTS exam and aim for a better score. Good luck!

I am sorry but as I mentioned before, C category doesnt work for express entry.

I would get started with improving your IELTS score checking what score you can achieve with a good language result and 2 years of experience from Canada.

If you cannot get above 450 that way, have a look at PNP programs.
