Hi there,

Myself and my partner are starting the process of immigrating. There is so much information to look at its easy to get lost in it all.

We are both from the UK and considering to apply via Express Entry route. My query is if one of us applied via the express entry route does this ensure the other partner is covered in terms of eligible to work out there or do they have to go through their own application?

Would we both have to apply for EE in that case if we both wanted to work?

Thanks in advanced,

JP

You first decide who gets the most points keeping in mind the last cut off was 449 although in previous few draws went just below 420 but the more points the better.

Once you decide who will be the principal applicant then they put the other person as accompanying on the application so as a couple for example both are included in the application for PR. Unfortunately even as English speakers you will both need to do the IELTS language test.

Once you get approved and complete landing as PRs you would be free to do what you want as far as work and live where you want in Canada given you would both be PRs.

More to it than that of course but thats the general view.

Thanks for that. At this stage its early on so good to have this sort of knowledge sharing.

All the best.
