Hi there,

I landed on November 17th gaining my PR status through the Express Entry Program.

I recall being told during processing at the border my actual PR card would automatically come in the mail around 6 weeks later.
Hence, the was no further requirement on my part to physically apply for the card.

Can anyone advise / confirm this for their own experience?

This was in Ontario.

Thanks just now.

Yes, that's how it works. Although, the 6 weeks is not accurrate. I think the border officers just use a genric number, like 6-8 weeks, for the pr card to arrive. If you go onto the MyCIC website and look under processing times, you'll see how long it currently takes for a new pr card to be issued. They update the number every week.

I did my landing Nov. 30th in YVR and was told "around 8 weeks" for the pr card to show up. We don't have to do anything more, just wait. It's a bit frustrating because I don't think there's a way to check the status of our cards online. So, we have to wait until the process time goes over the time listed on the website before we can call and have the CIC check the status.

The processing time for new pr cards has been fluctuating quite a bit over the past few months. In September is was about 87 days, November it got down to 45-52 days, and now it's back up to 80 days. We've got a bit of wait ahead of us.
