The Canadian province of Saskatchewan has announced the reopening of the ‘International Skilled Worker – Express Entry’ sub-category of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). Up to 500 further applications will be accepted, as of December 2, 2015. This sub-category enables the SINP to nominate individuals in Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Express Entry pool and who have the education, skilled work experience, language ability and other factors to help them to successfully establish and integrate into Saskatchewan’s labour market and communities. A successful nomination through this stream will result in successful applicants being awarded 600 points under the Comprehensive Ranking System and an Invitation to Apply at a subsequent draw from the pool.

Candidates with work experience in one of 60 “in-demand” occupations are in a particularly good position to immigrate to Canada through this sub-category of the SINP. All the best to those who can take advantage of this.

Hi, there are lots of Nigerians here. When are landing here and where do you plan to settle? That way I could assist with info or put you in touch with some other people. Cheers.

The International Skilled Worker – Saskatchewan Express Entry Sub-Category is now reopened to accept an additional 500 applications.

The Saskatchewan Express Entry Sub-Category is for skilled workers who want to work and live in Saskatchewan. This category enables the SINP to nominate individuals that are in Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Express Entry pool and who have the education, skilled work experience, language ability and other factors to help them to successfully establish and integrate into Saskatchewan’s labour market and communities.
Eligibility

You may apply under the Saskatchewan Express Entry Sub-Category if you live outside of Canada or you have proof of legal status in Canada and you meet the following criteria:

You must be accepted into CIC’s Express Entry pool and have an Express Entry Profile Number and Job Seeker Validation Code.
Important: You must provide accurate information in your Express Entry Profile. If the information on your Express Entry Profile is not accurate your SINP nomination will be void and Citizenship and Immigration Canada may bar you from applying to immigrate to Canada for five years.
You must score a minimum of 60 points out of 100 on the SINP point assessment grid.
You must provide valid language test results from a designated testing agency that match the language level you declared in your Express Entry profile.
You must have completed a minimum of one year of post-secondary education or training which is comparable to the Canadian education system and has resulted in a degree, diploma, certificate, or a certificate equivalent to a trade certificate (that is verifiable).
You must have a minimum level of work experience related to your field of education or training:
At least one year of work experience in the past 10 years in a skilled profession (non-trades); OR
At least two years of work experience in a skilled trade in the past five years; OR
At least 12 months of skilled work experience in Canada in the past three years (trades and non-trades).
Your work experience must be in a high skilled occupation (NOC “0”, “A” or “B”) that is considered to be in-demand in Saskatchewan. Please see the Application Guide (Appendix A) for the list of eligible occupations.
If your work experience is in an occupation that is regulated in Saskatchewan and requires mandatory (compulsory) certification or licensing in Saskatchewan, you are required to obtain proof of eligibility for Saskatchewan licensure to be able to work in that profession before you apply to the SINP. Proof of eligibility for Saskatchewan licensure from the regulatory body is required as part of your SINP application. To see if your occupation has mandatory (compulsory) certification or licensing, refer to the Application Guide (Appendix A). You can find more information on regulated occupations at Is my occupation regulated?.
If your work experience is in a skilled trade you must hold a certificate of qualification (also known as a letter of invitation) in your skilled trade from the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship & Trade Certification Commission.
You must have proof of settlement funds and a settlement plan. Please see the Application Guide for further details.

Program criteria may change without notice and applications will be assessed according to the criteria on this website when the SINP receives your completed application. Please be advised the SINP is subject to a nomination limit set by the federal government and application intake thresholds. The ability to be nominated is affected by these constraints and program criterion. No application is guaranteed to be accepted and/or nominated.

The SINP will accept a maximum number of applications in each calendar year for applicants with and without employment offers. Visit SINP Application Intake Thresholds for more information.

Nova Scotia Introduces E-processing for Most Immigration Applications
Immigration
December 17, 2015 12:45 PM
Effective today, Dec. 17, most prospective immigrants to Nova Scotia are able to apply to immigrate through a new online system.

"E-processing is more convenient for applicants, giving them immediate feedback on incomplete files," said Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab. "It should speed up their completion of applications and will reduce our burden of paper-based files."

The Nova Scotia Office of Immigration will continue to accept paper-based applications for its immigration streams until the end of June 2016.

The province is also making other changes to more effectively manage the immigration system.

Effective immediately, to help work through the applications caused by high demand, the province will temporarily halt taking new applications for its Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry stream. Applications postmarked with today's date, Dec. 17, will be accepted. The stream will reopen for applications later in 2016.

The Office of Immigration will also close the Family Business Worker stream at the end of 2015. Applicants who would have applied through that stream will be able to apply under the Skilled Worker stream which has the same requirements.

Nova Scotia was the first province to launch Express Entry streams in January 2015. The allocation for the Express Entry is nearly filled for this year. The allocation from the federal government was initially 350 and later increased by another 300 to a total of 650.

In total, Nova Scotia will nominate 1,350 immigrants under the Provincial Nominee Program in 2015, nearly double the 2014 cap of 700.

FOR BROADCAST USE:

Effective today (December 17th) most prospective

immigrants to Nova Scotia are able to apply to immigrate

through an online system.

Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab says E-processing

will be more convenient for applicants and give them immediate

feedback on incomplete files.

The Nova Scotia Office of Immigration will continue to

accept paper-based applications for its immigrations streams

until the end of June 2016.

To effectively manage the immigration system the

province also announced a pause on accepting Nova Scotia

Demand: Express Entry applications and closure of the Family

Business Worker immigration stream.
