Express Entry in a nutshell

Dear Fellas,

Privileged to find such wonderful forum with plethora of information required for one seeking an immigration opportunity to Canada. This article is so far so good however have arrived at junction of making a vital decision whether to do entire process at my own or seek help from consultant. I believe a help on this forum would definitely boost my confidence in going ahead at my own.

Basis the information gathered so far I have divided the entire express entry (EE) under FSW program into 4 segments. I request a help on reviewing my approach & gaps and identifying the show-stoppers during these phases if any.

Phase 1-

1) IELTS,
2) ECA through WES

For processing ECA, I need help on document attestation. So, my post SSC (10th) background is as follows-

Education - 1) Diploma,
2) Degree- Engineering

Institutions- 1) Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE),
2) University of Mumbai

Documents- 1) Mark sheets for all the 3 years & passing certificate issued by MSBTE,
2) Mark sheets for 2nd and 3rd years issued by college (Direct 2nd year admission, hence only 4th year (7th & 8th Semesters) results issued by University),
Mark sheet for 4th(Final) year & convocation certificate issued by University

Basis my understanding of ECA & requirements of WES, I require to submit attested copies of aforementioned documents. However, kindly advise me on following queries & point out if I have missed out anything -

1) Do I require to attest all kinds of mark sheet i.e. passing & A.T.K.T for both diploma & degree ?
2) Would the attestation on b/w Xerox copies of mark sheets, diploma passing certificate & convocation certificate suffice or require to obtain transcripts ?
3) Do I need to attest 2nd & 3rd years engineering degree mark sheets from college as there are mixed bag of comments on this forum; some got these attested from University’s Churchgate office & for some University refused to attest.
4) After going through few postings I found there’s slight confusion over the authorities who would attest these documents & their charges. For eg. charges from Kalina found to be heavier than that of Churchgate.
My approach will be-
a. Diploma mark sheets & passing certificate--> MSBTE, Khar
b. If ‘No’ for point no. 3 then- Degree mark sheets, convocation certificate--> Vidyarthi Vidyapeeth Bhavan, Churchgate
c. If ‘Yes’ for point no. 3 then- 2nd & 3rd years mark sheets--> College & Degree mark sheet & convocation certificate--> Vidyarthi Vidyapeeth Bhavan, Churchgate
5) Do I require to mention WES application no. on all these documents or only on envelopes?
6) Can I put both sealed attested documents of diploma & degree into one single envelope & send to WES?


Phase 2-

Create EE profile


Phase 3-

Wait for ITA & track PNP. Subsequently arrange for sufficient funds, police clearance certificate & employee reference letter detailing work hours, job duties, no. of years served signed by immediate supervisor.


Phase 4-

Medicals & furnish all mandatory documents. If required prepare for an interview with visa officer.



Dosing from consultants-
1) The process is tedious in nature and one requires a constant attention to the changes express entry schemes as no notification(s) on changes will be circulated to you.
2) For filing PNP nomination one has to apply at their own and the filing window stays only for short span hence the 24 x 7 accountant's team would nail the opportunity for me. 1 x free PNP nomination, rest will be charged @ Rs. XYZ.... Being an IT professional have bright chances in Ontario PNP.
My query- I believe province invites candidate to apply based on the fulfillment criteria and not the other way where a candidate applies for province, is it correct ??
3) We will continue to support post 1 year expiry of EE profile till I get visa.
4) We will tailor made your resume as per Canadian standard, match job responsibilities in your reference letter to nullify chances of rejection.
5) Liaison with assessment agencies for erroneous documents & visa officer on case.
6) Agreement with Canadian lawyer is beneficial than with agent.
7) IELTS CLB 9 or more is key to direct invite else PNP may open doors basis my profile scoring.


After reading the entire process and pondering on above dosing, I wonder what value additions will I get by hiring consultant...could be a peace of mind for time being but the thrill, challenges & emotions one may undergo in self-processing can not be expressed in words. Just wanted to know if I do entire process at my own where & what will be chances of show-stopper?

Too much of essay but.......can I just make this dream turned into a reality by my own??....requesting comments......

In continuation to the quoted post, a few weeks ago I received my ECA Report with a successful evaluation of all the documents so I would like to share my experience to offer better insights of the entire process.
P.S.- This is for those seeking an advice on 10th + 3 / 4 yrs of Diploma + Lateral Degree (Direct 2nd Year). Also, I will use the exact nomenclature which is understood by respective authorities at the local institutions so in the below content you will not find any instance of a word- 'Transcript'.

Engineering Diploma, Maharashtra State Technical Board- Authentication (Do not opt for verification) of Diploma Marksheets and Provisional / Final passing certificate
Modes of Application-
1) Online - https://aaplesarkar.mahaonline.gov.in/
2) Offline - Download form (also, can be obtained from office)- http://msbte.org.in/file/Authentication_Verification_Form.pdf & submit the duly filled at the following location. I have attached mine for your reference.

Location- 4th Floor, Main Building, Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE), Kherwadi, Mumbai

Timings for Application form submission & collection of authenticated documents-
10 AM - 4.30 PM, Lunch: 1 PM - 2 PM (You may want to confirm the timings, after all, it's the state Government body).
Pls note from my personal experience if you submit documents at 12.59 PM and decides to rush to Finance department for payment, expect no mercy from the security guards. They would never let you enter unless the clock passes mark of 2 PM.

Charges- Pls refer attached is price list


To carry list-

1. Pls carry your own pen without fail and not to ask for one at the counter.
2. Originals and set of photocopies / XEROX of marksheets and provisional/final passing certificate. For example- If you want to authenticate 2 sets (a set includes all the 3/4 years of marksheets including pass, KT, Failure, Golden / Drop and front & back sides of Provisional / Final passing certificate then you must bring 3 sets as MSBTE will retain 1 set for their record.
3. Sufficient Money

Procedure-

1. Fill the application form.....skip to 2 if already filled
2. Submit the sets to be authenticated
3. The official at counter will review them and suggest correction (s) if any.
4. Before stamping on your application form, reconfirm the 'Authentication' thing. Don't feel too worried if he fold all your documents.
5. Post the stamping carry the payment slip to Finance department to make payments; without fail, obtain the payment receipt.
6. Show the receipt to form submission counter, he would write a 'reference no.' (refer the circled one in an attached pic of receipt) and ask for the timeline for collection. From my experience, it shouldn't be more than 2 weeks. Don't forget to take a snap of important telephone numbers pasted on the right side of counter....quite handy to check readiness.
7. Call & confirm the readiness by quoting reference no. Show the payment receipt and you are done.....now probably, you will realize the reason for folding. Anyways, check the pics.

Engineering Degree, University of Mumbai- Attestation of Degree Marksheets, Passing & Convocation certificates

Mode of Application- Offline

Location- 1st Floor, Vidyarthi Vidyapeeth Bhavan, B Road, Besides Sydenham College, Churchgate, Mumbai

Timings for:
Token distribution- 10 AM - 11 AM (My tip is to reach at least by 9.45 AM to avoid rush)
Application form submission- 10 AM - 2.30 PM, Lunch: 1.30 PM - 2 PM (You may want to confirm the timings)
Collection of authenticated documents- Anytime between 10 AM - 5 PM....you need not to stand in queue.

Charges- Rs.14/- per set

To carry list-

1. Pls carry your own pen & plenty of liquid to dehydrate you if you sweat a lot. At least I had a tough time with fans at low speed
2. Originals and set of photocopies / XEROX of mark sheets, passing & convocation certificates. For example- If you want to attest 2 sets (a set include marksheets of final year {7th & 8th semesters} mark sheets including pass, KT, Golden / Drop and passing & convocation certificates then you must bring 3 sets as University will retain 1 set for their record. It is advised not to get your college issued mark sheets (2nd & 3rd years) attested by University; you may get the same attested by your respective college (if it's still opened) and get it signed & stamped by either by Controller of Examination or HOD.
3. Green Envelope with full address of ECA, Canada written on it else they will make you write before accepting documents.

Procedure-

1. University office executive will distribute application forms aka tokens from 10 AM till 11 AM (official timing). During my visit, some could even get it past 11 AM.
2. In that form under University column, you have to write ECA (in full form pls), Canada. In case of doubts do reach out to them, they are quite helpful.
3. Be proactive & keep the track of your token no. one is going to call them.
4. The office clerks will review the originals and XEROX copies. On immediately next desk you have to pay the fees.
5. Take the custody of the receipt and don't forget to click snap of URL / website link where you can track the readiness of your attestation.
6. Call & confirm the readiness. Show the payment receipt and you are done. I got mine in 2 weeks.

Engineering 2nd (3rd & 4th Semesters) and 3rd Year (5th & 6th Semesters)- Attestation of college-issued mark sheets
I was in a dilemma if I should take signatory of the Controller of Exam or HOD but basis the experience of some ex-students opting for abroad studies I went ahead with the latter one. For me, it took hardly an hour. Refer the attached pic.


ECA Registration @https://www.wes.org/ and outcome-

1. Registration is tad easy. Fill up all the necessary details including schooling/secondary if asked to do so.
2. For delivery of hard copy, I opted for the 'Post' mode without tracking no. and it took 1-2 weeks for documents to arrive.
3. For shipping documents to ECA, I kept all the separate envelopes of degree and diploma into large size 'Green' envelope and marked it to ECA, Canada. For postage, being an account holder, FedEx always remains my ultimate choice either if it's domestic or international, churned out Rs.1400/- If anyone interested you may avail the service from me else I would always encourage to google for even more economical pricing than mine.
4. WES acknowledged only the MSBTE authorized and University attested documents.
5. Post successful evaluation in span of 1.5 months, it's summary resulted in- Diploma (2 years) and Bachelor's Degree (4 years)

I tried to cover granular details which have lengthened my post; Let me know if I can improve it in any way.

Yes, ideally you should get both credentials validated by ECA in order to claim points against 'Two or more degrees' criteria.
Nomenclature transcript has a different meaning at everywhere so I will stick to a layman's language- Get the attestation done for all the marksheets including pass, KT & failure (if any), passing & convocation/degree certificates from the respective institution (s). If both degrees are from the same University then you can combine them, get attested & send a single envelope. In other case, if the degrees are from two diff. institutions then you can put those 2 separate attested & sealed envelopes into one large envelope and post it to WES.

I Want to know about the time it takes cic to provide passport request.i completed and submitted my file on Nov 4 2017,my medical got cleared in about 15 days,I last checked my profile on 16 Jan 2018 and it still says under additional documents that the documents are bieng reviewed and under background check it says that it's not applicable.can someone please help me in knowing how much time will it take from this point onwards in getting my ppr? Also what do they check in additional documents

IGNOU is listed under WES website, so you can definitely get an ECA for this. I guess you will have to submit your Graduate degree and DMC as well submitting an application at WES.

What are your two degrees? Is it a Graduation and Post Graduation degree? If yes, then you will have to send both the degrees for evaluation at WES. login on WES website and read in detail.

Hi,

There is no fixed time as every application is different. However, based on current trends, on you can expect PPR after around 90-120 days.

Now my question is:
Before attempting IELTS exam, Is she need to apply for new passport first with updated details after marriage ? Or
It's fine that she can attempt exam with previous passport details?
