Express Entry impact on Federal Skilled Worker

Can anyone provide any definitive information on how Express Entry will impact the FSW programme. I have been unable to find any definite answers to this. Specifically:

- what will happen to existing FSW application once Express Entry is in operation?
- will FSW applications be considered for Express Entry or will that be a new application (+fee)?

I have not yet applied and am considering whether to apply to FSW now or wait. Given the processing times I am not convinced my application will even be considered before the start of Express Entry so may just be a waste of an application fee. Can anyone comment on this?

FSW is definitly worth a try.

Nobody knows what will be our chances after FSW.

Even if you miss the boat, there is nothing to regret like, if your application reached after cap, no fees are encashed. However the lessons learnt will be valuable

if you meet the cap there may be slight possibility that Express entries may go ahead of FSW

net-net - I favour applying for FSW.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I thought you paid the fee when you submitted your application. Is this not the case? Any idea how the 1000 places for each occupation will be filled? My thinking is that if they start with all the many existing applications they will meet the cap long before they come to my application. However, if I will not have to pay the fee in this case then nothing to lose!

First come, first served. If the cap is reached or you do not meet the minimum requirements or your application is not complete it will be returned without being charged.

Its better to apply now if you can gather all the required documentation and submit within the next few weeks. There is no harm in trying now, especially if your NOC falls within the 50 available NOC of 2014. Note that EOI will be strictly on the basis of available/forecast jobs. It is possible there won\t be as much as 50 occupations when EOI kicks off.
