Express Entry for Spouse and Proof of Funds

Hi Guys!

My girlfriend is currently PR in Canada (landed 6/27/2016) and we plan to get married by February 2017 when she gets back here in Philippines. She'll then return to Canada after a month or two as my wife. Spousal Sponsorship is out of the option for us for the moment (salary and accommodation issue :( ). I plan to follow her through Federal Skilled Express Entry. Is it true that her IELTS score and Canadian work experience can help boost my points up?

Also, I'm planning to borrow my grandmother's house and lot title to transfer it to my name, and use it as a proof of funds that can be liquidated once I'm in Canada.

Your insights and advise on this one will be of great help. Thanks in advance!

Have a good day :)

You cannot use your spouse's IELTS and work experience, as she is not accompanying you in your PR application. She is already in Canada as a PR.

If you are eligible, you can go on and apply for Express Entry, but the scores for invitations to apply (ITA) lately are at the 480 range: people with masters degrees, Canadian work experience, LMIAs, or provincial nominations. It might be easier to pursue spousal sponsorship if you do not have enough points for an ITA.

Transferring your grandma's house title to your name alone won't help your PR application, you still have to prove enough liquid funds for the LICO.
