Hello to All:

Are we allowed to apply for Express Entry, if I am an international student who is recently graduated from one of the universities in Canada? If yes, I was wondering if anyone of you have had an experience in applying for the Express Entry while RESIDING in Canada. I have had 4+ years' work experience working in a variety of positions, prior to pursuing my graduate studies in Canada. What were the outcomes and how long it took you to get a PR? It would be awesome to hear your suggestions, advice, and suitable programs in this particular case. I have got my open PGWP a few weeks ago so I am pumped! Thanks!

yes, you can apply under express entry. I am currently waiting to get selected in draws. I have 476 points. According to the trends once you get ITA, it takes 6 months to 1 year for CIC to reach decision on your file.

Calculate your score with this tool:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

The draw yesterday was at 482, so that's what you have to aim for, until further notice. You can get additional points when you complete 12 months of Canadian work experience on your PGWP.

Take the CELPIP if you haven't yet so you can get started.

@bellaluna: thanks for your response, but what CELPIP stands for and that Canadian experience should be in the NOC list or not? Thanks.

I have got another questions, so please bear with me :'(

1. What CELPIP and TEF stands for? I have heard of IELTS a little bit as when I was applying for a graduate school I have only taken iBT TOEFL, which I nailed it. Which one of these tests should we take? Are there different types of IELTS, if yes, which one of the IELTS should we take for the Express Entry? I still do not know about CELPIP and TEF... :'(

2. Does anyone of you can point out to me the step by step guidelines for applying for the Express Entry then that would be just awesome.. I am interested in step by step guidelines on how to apply to the EE WHILE RESIDING in Canada. Should we go through nomination by a province in order to apply for the Express Entry?

3. More questions to come... :p

Thanks a lot!

1. Only IELTS and CELPIP are accepted for the PR application for English. Since you are in Canada, you can take CELPIP, many people say it's "easier" as it's administered through a computer.
If you know French, you can take the TEF.

Question 2 and possibly 3 are answered in the second post of this thread, as well as more details on #1: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/express-entry-step-by-step-instructions-t273928.0.html

These are basic questions and fundamental processes, please take the time to read up about it, and then ask questions later. :)

Hi. I would like to get some advice please. Im currently on EE with a score of 413. I was looking for programs in canada to be able to get some more points being afraid that the round of invitations never get to the score I have. Anyway I found a College and Internship ONE-year program in vancouver. its 6months studying and 6 more on an unpaid internship. How do I know if by doing this specialization will give me points? or at this point is just better to way to the score goes down?

Thank you!

its always better to have a 12 month canadian work experience on your PGWP if your score currently with your 4+ year experience outside canada is below 480-490. it will solve two purposes, firstly you will gain more points on the canadain work experience after 1 year and secondly you will become eligible for another category (CEC) than FSW.

Thank you guys for all your suggestions! I quickly took an IELTS test for Listening section. I had 10 questions and got all of them correct i.e. 10/10 so I guess I do not have to worry too much about the IELTS exam. I have to prepare a little bit and everything should be good. Lol. ;D

As I do not have a Canadian work experience yet, maybe I should wait a little bit and apply for the EE or it is better to start right after school? A job market really slow and it is very difficult to find a job, that is very depressing... :'(
