I would advise all of you planning to move to north America to practice social work to change their profession, maybe to nursing. Social work will burn you out. It is like chasing or running from a mad cow on the street. Thou social workers make more money and gain more respect in Canada compared to the US. The prefession is really challenging. In canada you need a lot of experience to get a high paying job in the field. The US have a lot of entering level job. Also in Canada your English most be very good to pratice or past your interview. Experince in mental health and clinical social work is highly needed and has more opportunities. The rural areas have more opportunities for social workers to get a job and start practicing...no one wants to go there...it is too cold or isolated. Provincial residential homes is another good place to work...because their pay are a bit decent. It also depends on the province. It is also very competitive because they employ people with dipolma and certificate.
