(1) what would be considered my level of education (Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate): I have completed MBBS (MD) from medical school in India (4.5 year program plus 1 year of internship = 5.5 years), then Pediatric Residency (3 year post graduate program in US) and now doing a 3 year fellowship in Neonatal Perinatal Medicine from US.

(2) I was paid for working more than 30 hours per week during my 3 years of residency. Woud that be a part of my work experience.

(1) Your medical degree falls under " Professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession" category (which grants you as much point as Master degree under CRS). You will need Medical Council of Canada to do an ECA for your medical degree if you wish to use your residency experience under either specialist physician (NOC 3111) or general practitioner/family physician (NOC 3112).

(2) Yes your 3-years pediatric residency counts towards CEC given that you've completed your medical study prior to the start of your residency training.

Thank you for your reply.

Question: Under University Degree at Doctoral level, it says it includes earned Doctorate degree, and the Doctor of...

Now Since MD is an earned Doctorate degree (Doctor of Medicine), would it not be considered here?

This is a kinda of debatable, but I do get where you are coming from. In Canada the Doctorate degree is typically referred to a graduate degree requiring former completion of a Master degree or equivalent. For regulated profession the degrees are categorized as an undergraduate degree.

Given this reason I would still suggest choosing "Professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession" for your EE application. If you look at the IRCC link (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp) it specifically says:

Medicine
- First professional degree in medicine (Doctor of Medicine)
- First professional degree in Medicine
- Doctor of Medicine degree
- First professional university degree in medicine
- First professional university degree in medicine, preceded by prerequisite undergraduate study

Hi.
I have a MD in anesthesia from.india. Does the three years of residency count as work experience though we were paid a stipend and not a salary?
I have reference letters in the format required but no pay stubs or itr for that year as it was a stipend. What should I do? Is the reference letter with the work and pay details sufficient?

Niveditha, your MD counts as work experice as its a full time (more than 48hours/week) paid course.

Greetings everyone, a friend asked me this question and would need some answers “my accompanying spouse has an average of 33 hours weekly. Would that affect our scores or application? And also how many hours is considered full time.” I’m the principal applicant in this case and my work hours is 40 hours minimum

Hi Nivedita, I am also in the same boat. I did my MD pathology from India. I would like to know did it worked for you to show as a work experience. I also can’t show pay stubs as I used to get it deducted from my yearly salary. Which was 3lakh minus from 7lakh per annum. Can you please help me in this?

If any one take ECA report one from WES and another from CES and there have any difference between two authority such as wes give Canadian bachelor equivalent and CES give masters.
In this situation what is applicable for candidate whereas masters equivalent is more important.
Any one answer with practical.
