Hi there,

I'm confused in how to fill the following field out: Date first became qualified to practice in this occupation

My recent foreign work experience was in NOC 0213 (2011 - 2015). However, in Canada, I'm working under the NOC 2171 (2015 - 2016).
I also have foreign work experience in NOC 2171 (2008 - 2011) but I was not planning to include it in my EE profile. I wouldn't like to request the letter to them.

My Occupation profile seems something like that:
Occupation
Primary occupation: NOC2171
Date first became qualified to practice in this occupation: May, 2008

Work Experience
Canadian Work Experience - 1 year - 2015 to 2016 - NOC 2171
Foreign Work Experience - 2 years - 2013 to 2015 - NOC 0213
Foreign Work Experience - 2 years - 2011 to 2013 - NOC 0213

I wonder If I should request the company a letter to prove foreing work experience in NOC 2171 in 2008 or just update the field with my Canadian work experience in NOC2171. Another possibility, that I have in mind, would be to update my NOC to 0213 and the date field to 2011.

What do you guys think? Any expert to help me on it.

Thaaank you in advance! :)

This is what CIC site states regarding your query.

If you are listing a skilled trade (jobs with a four-digit NOC code that begins with 632, 633, 72, 73, 82, 92) as your primary occupation:

This is the date when you first became qualified to practice on your own in that trade (for example, when you moved from apprentice to fully qualified tradesperson).

Note: If you are being assessed for the Federal Skilled Trades program, work experience in a trade will only count if you are qualified to practice in that region.

If you are listing any other primary occupation:

This is the date when you finished the minimum level of education needed for the occupation according to the National Occupational Classification code. (Note: if the NOC only states high school, this is the date you graduated from high school.)

I just updated the primary occupation and date. I decided to go with NOC0213 as primary occupation. I think it makes more sense once I'm attaching a company letter to prove experience in this NOC.

Occupation
Primary occupation: NOC0213
Date first became qualified to practice in this occupation: July, 2011

Work Experience
Canadian Work Experience - 1 year - 2015 to 2016 - NOC 2171
Foreign Work Experience - 2 years - 2013 to 2015 - NOC 0213
Foreign Work Experience - 2 years - 2011 to 2013 - NOC 0213
