Express Entry CEC - Profile Ineligible

Hello ,

Yesterday we submitted our express entry profile. My husband who is the primary applicant has been working in Canada since July 2014 on an open work permit. I was on study permit then and I started working in Jan 2016. We are both software engineers working with a company on permanent full-time position.
We used the CEC tool to check our eligibility and was told that we are eligible to apply for express entry. However after submitting the profile we got a message saying that our profile is ineligible.
Primary Applicant : Working in Canada since July 2014 ( NOC A) on open work permit , Bachelor's degree in Engineering from India , 4 years of experience in India ( software engineer) , IELTS score 7,7,7,8
Spouse : Working in Canada since Jan 2015 ( NOC A) on Post graduate work permit , MASc in E&CE from U of Toronto, IELTS score 7.5,7.5,8,8.5

The WES ECA evaluation for my husband is in progress . So for the following question on educational qualification we had to give
Was he awarded a Canadian degree, diploma or certificate for this period of study?" No
"had an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) within the past five years for this degree, diploma or certificate? (It must have been from an agency approved by CIC.) ? " No
Is that the reason why our profile was shown ineligible?

We got the following message after submitting the profile

You are not eligible for Express Entry
To qualify for Express Entry, you must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for the Federal Skilled Worker
Program, and/or the Federal Skilled Trades Program and/or the Canadian Experience Class. Based on your
profile, you do not meet the minimum eligibility criteria for any of these programs. Reasons you would not be
eligible for Express Entry include:
• not having a valid language test
• language test results that are more than two years old
• a language test score that is too low
• not having enough relevant work experience
• not having the required education level
• not having enough funds

Other than the educational credential evaluation I cannot think of any other reason. Experts please help.
thanks

There has been some cases like this.
Search this forum for similar cases.

I remember they were saying they had to create new profile or new account.

Yes that very well could be the reason. Considering you have a WES processed you should have ticked that as a YES.

Stay for more replies from other seniors, as I am not an EE expert.

Best of luck,

Hi,

I have a question here on this,

I am here since Dec2014 and applied under CEC, if i get an offer letter without LMIA will that be accepted in CIC to give 600 points in express entry system. I am having valid IELTS score and WES report for masters but not having enough points to get ITA.

can anyone please suggest a way forward?

Hi,

Unfortunately not. You won't be receiving that 600 points without LMIA.

Best of luck,

The ECA is required for FSW but not for CEC (although he won't get any points for education without the ECA). Since it sounds like he is eligible under the CEC class, the lack of the ECA should not have made you ineligible.

Check to make sure that the "primary NOC" is the same NOC listed for his Canadian work experience.

Also - As you probably know, Canadian experience will not be counted if it is gained while you are self-employed, if you were a student, or if it was unauthorized.

In the profile, under work history - For each "work experience" in Canada entry in your profile, there are 2 questions that appear at the bottom - for some reason, a lot of people seem to mess these up.

- Working legally in Canada during this time? He must answer YES (if you answer NO, you're saying you were working illegally, and the experience isn't counted).

- Studying full-time while doing this job? He must answer NO, because work experience gained on a student work permit is not accepted.

Double-check your answers to these questions -

No it was not self employment. He has been working as a software engineer (permanent full-time position) on an open work permit for the past 2 years in Canada. I think it is the lack of ECA - coz in the message we got it says
//Reasons you would not be
eligible for Express Entry include:

• language test results that are more than two years old
• a language test score that is too low
• not having enough relevant work experience

//
all conditions except for ECA is met. I used the CRS points calculator and got 480 points (with ECA). We look forward to re-apply by August once we get the ECA report.

Hi everyone,

I am planning to apply for CEC in coming months and gathering all required documents. I have heard about ECA but i am superconfused and looking forward to some suggestions.

I have bachelors degree from back home and have completed Masters in Canada (in 2017); I am wondering if I have to get my degree evaluated or not. If yes, then how can I do it and how long does it take.

Thanks in advance.

How come someone calculate their CRS with ECA? I haven't seen any option for ECA so far.

No, you do not need an ECA. You will get points for a master's degree from Canada without an ECA.

ECA is not required for CEC class. However, it is required if you want points for foreign (non-Canadian) degrees. Since you have a Canadian masters, you do not need an ECA, and you will get points for a master's degree.
