Hi friends,

I have a question. Hoping someone can help me with.

1) I am in the process of sponsoring my partner under inland common law
application. Her work permit expires in September 2021. We are also including an OWP application and the wait times are 6-8 months. We had aimed to submit at the end of March.

She also has one year of skilled experience in noc b in Canada so is eligible to enter the cec express entry pool. We noted the points were 75 last week so decided to monitor this.

if we decide to submit our family application then get an ITA for CEC. Are we able to withdraw the family application?

any guidance is much appreciated!

thanks very much! J

Sure - you can do this.

It's quite possible / likely the 75 point thing was one time only and you're not going to see anything quite like this again.

Hi all,

My partner will be applying for a full time study permit to Canada from Pakistan in Fall 2021. We will also marry after his arrival while he attends school. Are we then able to apply for Outland Sponsorship or would it be best to apply for Inland at the end of his study year? ( So we will have lived common law for one year).
His program is a one year certification and he also holds his Masters Degree in Comp Science. He will be completing a Coop placement as well so he will likely have a work permit. How can we transition smoothly to allow his stay longer with my goal of spousal sponsorship? Any help appreciated. Thanks!

I would sponsor him for PR as soon as you are married.

He may struggle to get a study permit approved for a certificate since this progression of studies may not make sense to IRCC.

So yes sponsor for PR would be ASAP but Outland Better? Also, I was wondering if.you could expand in why IRCC would have difficulty with his study permit as it is for Business Intelligence System Infrastructure Co -op.
Thx!

What is the level of the studies? Is it just a plain certificate? Or something else? You need to show progression in your studies or IRCC can question whether the person is a genuine student or is simply trying to use the study permit as a means of moving to Canada. He has a Master's so his studies in Canada should be equal or more advanced than that level.
