Express Entry Application was transferred to a special unit

Hello Everyone,

Have a question for you all and would appreciate your response

I had submitted my Canada Express entry application for federal skilled workers on November 27, 2017 via the online system, as we understand the general express entry processing time period is 6 months, now its almost 9 months since then, and I had sent them an email inquiring about my case, and I received a message from them saying "We verified the information provided and can confirm that your application was transferred to a special unit and is still in process.While this review will result in an additional delay, rest assured that we will make all the necessary efforts to finalize your application as soon as possible."

What I would like to know is, what happens now ? what will they do with my application ? since that it has been forwarded to the special unit.
And if you guys have any idea as to how much longer (time frame) it might take ?

My profile is that I applied as a single applicant, no dependents, have several years experience working in IT in Dubai, UAE.
