Hi All,

I have a quick question regarding EE.

I currently have gotten my PNP approved and I'm waiting for the next EE draw.

I am also planning on getting married to my long term girlfriend (Canadian citizen) in 2-3 months.

Will this affect my application? She will not be sponsoring me as My points are around 1050 already.

Do I have to update IRCC about this and it so how?

What would I need to provide from her end as per documentation? Or would I just have to mention her details?

Do I have to update OINP as well even after pnp approval?

Would it be better to get married before accepting ITA or after?

Hey Striker6655,

I had a similar situation in late 2022 while waiting for the outcome of my EE PNP application (post-AOR).

If she's already a citizen, it shouldn't affect your application.

It's best to update IRCC about the change. I raised a web form to update my case once I had the marriage certificate apostiled, about a week after the wedding. IRCC responded with a very long boilerplate email — most of it won't be relevant to your case — but here's the relevant bit:

If the newly eligible family member is a spouse, common-law partner or dependent child who is already a permanent resident or Canadian citizen, only a copy of the birth certificate, marriage certificate or proof of common-law relationship and a letter of explanation are required.
I submitted the requested documents and received an acknowledgment of receipt from IRCC a few weeks later. IRCC had no further questions, and the PPR arrived a couple of months later.

Good luck and enjoy the wedding!

Thank you for the reply. Currently I’ve got the PNP nomination and I’m waiting for the next draw.

She is already a citizen.

Should I marry her and add her onto my file before accepting the ITA or should I accept the ITA and file my PR application and then raise a web form? Which would be the best and cause minimal delays to my application?

What we are planning is: file for my PR, and then get married, and send marriage certificate through web form. Or can we get married after the ITA, then I add her onto my profile and upload the marriage certificate? Sorry I’m not too sure what the best option would be.
