Hi everyone! Im currently in Canada holding a visitors visa (Multiple entry expiring in May 2016) and my visitors status will expire this coming March 6 2015. I'm planning to visit a school in BC this coming April to check out the campus and might as well enroll for a SHORT COURSE (1 month) program. Since my visitor's status will expire soon, is it wise to leave or exit Canada before my status expires and stay in my country for a month and come back in Canada in spring?. Am I not going to have "flag poling" issues if i stay away from Canada like only for a month? ::)

I don't suggest you in doing so.

Instead, you should consider extending your stay in Canada:

No, it's not. On your first post, you said your status is expiring March 6 and today is only Feb 4. You are just running out of time, but there is still time for extension.

You should apply 30 days before your status expires to:

extend your visitor, student or work status,

The 30 days is just a guideline. Your application needs to be recieved by the office before your status expires. It could be a day before and it will still work.

Is visiting an educational institution a valid reason for extenstion? Do you think they wouldnt think something like "why i didnt do that (visit the school) the entire time since september 2014?"

Enrolling the short course would probably be a better reason than merely visiting the campus.

Thanks, I really appreciate your concern. I will take note of your advise. But I saw some websites that using that reason (education purposes - enrollong/studying a short program) is not a valid reason for visitor extension. Maybe my only option is to exit Canada and enter again to have a "reset" on my status. Im just worried if Im going to have any "flag poling" issues if I stay away from Canada for a month and then go back. By the way, Im planning to go back in Philippines and not in the US.

Guys. anyone? Please share your thoughts.. ???
