Expiring passport

i work as a live-in caregiver in Ontario. I am from Belarus. my passport expires in Feb 2015. but i have to renew my visa in December 2014. Do i make a new passport and extend my visa in a new one and keep old one until expires? will they do that? my country will give me 6 month to keep my old passport. thank you

I dont think so visa is that important unless you have an emergency to travel out side of Canada. First get your new passport
and then apply for visa. My visa expired with passport in 2012. I got my new passport but I just applied for visa in feb.2014

Agreed - besides, if you apply for new visa on the old passport, the max they would issue you is until the passport's expiry - which will be really short. So save yourself the pain of having to apply again latter and do it once after getting a renewed passport
