Hi,
I have just finished diploma in wireless networking.and i m looking for job in my field of study meanwhile i m working in restaurant as a assistant manager and if sign contract with owner he is willing to make a manager n provide all documets i need in order to apply under CEC.
So questions are
1) what if i dont get job in field of my study n i work as manager in restaurant( which is not related to my study) will i still be able to apply under CEC as long as i work for 12 months n i meet other requirements.
2) and what if i work as manager in restuarant for while n find a job related to study will the expirence that i got as manager will it be counted towards hours requirement after 12 months when i apply.

Hi, the requirement does not mandate work experience related to your study only. As long as you have a position in one of the NOC category then you should be fine. Post grad and regular CEC are no different except that the first one also went to school in Canada. As for your second question, you should be disclosing all your work experience obtained in Canada. However, you must decide on which NOC code to use for the application. For example, you cannot have 12 months of experience made up of NOC(1) for 6 months and NOC(2) for 6 months. Once you obtained 12 months as a res manager, you should make a decision whether to apply under this NOC, or wait till you've gained another 12 months under a different job. My opinion is that you shouldn't wait. The assessment only looks at what's included in the your package, so what you do after the period covered by your application has little relevance.

Seniors, please correct if I'm wrong.

Wrong. You can have two or more jobs to complete one year experience as long as they fall under NOC O,A or B. But you would need reference letters for both jobs.

I see. That's why the Canadian experience form asks for NOC code for each job listed. I guess just make sure that your language test results meet the minimum requirement for both codes.

Here is the operating manual which might be helpful if you have other questions:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op25-eng.pdf

From a pure strategic point of view, if you have two occupations that are significantly different in nature (although within the NOC categories), I would focus on one of them to avoid any confusion or potential excuses for the VO to question your application. Take your case for example, if I already have 12 months from res manager then I'd apply under 1 NOC.

Now that I looked into the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations 87.1(2)(a)(i), it does say "one or more occupations that are listed in Skill Type 0 Management Occupations or Skill Level A or B..." So the conclusion is, as cgel said, you are okay to apply with two NOC occupations as long as they make up to 12 months. :)
