Hi all,

We got our Canada visa and just have to visit canada to get PR.
US visa is expired but have valid I-94, is it safe to travel to canada by road to get PR.
Will it be a problem to re-enter US?
WE have heard that we need somebody's address living in Canada to get PR, as we don't have friends and relatives in Canada,
can we give US address?

I-94 is denoting the Arrival-Departure Record only and issued of behalf of valid visa or travel documents to enter USA.

You have to surrender the I-94 when you exit the US, to re-enter you need a valid stamp in your passport and a new I-94 will be issued against it.

I don't know I-94 against which type of visa.

If I have valid I-20 (extended education to PhD from MS) and my visa stamp on passport has already expired, can I re-enter us with that?

When you travel to Canada from USA, you donot have to surrender your I-94. So, it seems like you can visit Canada and re-enter US. But, would strongly recommend you to call US state department and confirm this.

Under Automatic Revalidation procedure you may allowed to re-enter US after visiting to Canada with expired Visa & valid i-94. This is only applicable if you are re-turning to USA within 30days.

We will be travelling by road, and two of my friends visited last year with US expired visa and valid I-94 to Canada and they had no issues returning back to USA.
DO you know anybody who has this problem recently or any laws have changed to travel by road.
