Please follow the pgwp timeline thread, there is some 17 ppl who got owp approved for the first time who applied from June 22nd to July 3rd.

Pgwp and or work permit extension 18 month under new policy took same time bro?? Any idea!
I think a few ppl under public policy got theirs earlier than pgwp, but mostly others get it at the same time as pgwp. For example, last week there were 17 pgwp approvals for ppl applied from 26th June to 3rd of July. And one from public policy applied on 1st of July got it approved today. But 9th of July got it like 2 weeks ago.

Takes about 120+ days.

Hello everybody. Newbie here. Hope someone can help me.

I'm wondering if someone applied to extend their PGWP after the policy's deadline? When the policy was still active, I tried applying 3x but it said I'm not eligible because my work permit will expire on December 20, 2021. Not sure if the reason is because it's past the 4-months deadline/requirement. However, I know of 3 people who also do not qualify because theirs also expire in December but were able to apply and got an extension. I don't know how they got around the policy because as mentioned, when I tried to apply online, it did not let me proceed due to ineligibility.

So my question now is this: Has anyone tried to apply for an extension of PGWP after the July deadline? Thank you very much.

Answer to your question is simple... you are not eligible for extension under this policy, so you should be looking at other options. Don't matter if somebody else got it even though they are ineligible

I applied on 11th july but till now didn’t get anything. My work permit will expire on nov 8th please advise me what can i do. They will give decisions on my fine or there is no hope to get extension. Waiting for your reply.

Hi all. My PGWP of one year is going to expire on april 13, 2022. Does anyone know if I can apply for an open work permit under this public policy?. I understand that is expired, but I'm wondering if they renew the public policy for visitors until February 28, 2022, why not the PGWP. Any advice? Does anyone know any other way to remain in Canada and work. I'm still in need to complete my one year of work experience and then apply for PR. Thanks!

The PGWP public policy has ended and hasn't been extended. So as of now, no, you unfortunately cannot apply to extend your PGWP.

My personal opinion is that it's unlikely IRCC will reopen this public policy. If they were going to do this, I think they would have done this last year and extended the program rather than closing it. That's just my opinion.

I would personally recommend that you start thinking what your backup plan will be. Definitely do not count on the public policy reopening.

If you want to remain in Canada, you can certainly apply to change your status to visitor. However this unfortunately will not allow you to keep working.

If you want to remain and work, you need a job offer and approved LMIA so that you can apply for a closed work permit.

Good luck.
