Expired PGWP 18 months extension apply online detailed released (Jan 27. 2021 new)

I'm just going by the details on the website. These instructions seem to make it very clearly. Specifically this bit below:

Who can apply
To be eligible for this open work permit, you must meet the following 5 requirements:

1. Your post-graduation work permit (PGWP)
   1. expired on or after January 30, 2020, or
   2. will expire within 4 months from the date you apply for this open work permit.
2. You were in Canada as of January 27, 2021, when the public policy took effect, and have stayed in Canada since then...

On second thought you may be right. There was an advisory that non-essential travel out of the country should not be embarked upon.

I wonder if they will be strict on the enforcement on the physical presence in Canada as of January 27,2021 until July,2021 when applications for extension is open . If he travelled on humanitarian grounds to visit family in India, I don't see how they could hold that against him.

Yes, you still qualify because your primarily based in Canada and have a valid PGWP. Just because you take a vacation out of the country which you are eligible for, doesn't disqualify you from the policy.

You have until April 2021 when your current PGWP expires to apply and should be present in Canada.

I called IRCC yesterday and they told me same thing. Just I have to be in Canada when applying.

No - there isn't. However as long as you apply before your PGWP expires, you can continue working on implied status.

My PGWP expires in July 2021. My AOR is April 2020.

should I apply for this 18 months PGWP extension right now or I should wait to get PR (hopefully before my PGWP expiration)?

I had applied for the extension and got a letter today from CIC that my status is extended till June 2nd 2021. It’s only extended for 4 more months since my PGWP was expiring in February 21st.
The letter mentions that I can continue to work until a decision has been made, not sure what they mean by it.
Can anyone advise what I can do to get it extended more or do I wait on CIC to finish processing?

The letter means you can continue to work for another 4 months until when they expect to make a decision to extend your PGWP by 18 months.

I have confused to choose questions 3 in imm5710e form which is for PGWP extension.

My work permit will expired on March 2021 so which option should I have ti select?

1) An initial work permit or a work permit with a new employer or 2) Restoration of your status as a worker.

Thanks, wonderful to hear. Did u receive the letter by post or in your account? Becoz when I and others (I think) applied for a PGWP extension, we just received application received confirmation in our accounts. Can you please specify !!
