Hi. Sorry if this has been asked before but I can't find it.

My spouse and I got our PR in the pre EE days through the Experience Class program. At that moment we didn't know who was going to be the main applicant so we both passed our CELPIP test. Finally I was the main applicant so only my CELPIP test was included in the PR application.

We are now preparing for the citizenship application and:

-I understand my CELPIP test is perfectly valid even though it is expired.

-Is my spouse CELPIP test valid even though it is expired and it wasn't send with the PR application?

Thank you so much in advance

I believe so. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=571&top=5 and https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/eligibility/language-proof/step-2.html

I haven't been able to find a firm answer on this. In the instruction guide, it explicitly asks for the language results to have been used for immigration in the past, if they are expired.

Results from a third-party language test

Your language test result must be equal to the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB/NCLC)/Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens level 4 or higher in speaking and listening. If you did the test in the past for immigration or citizenship purposes, we will accept the results even if it has expired.

Based on the fact that they will happily accept school certificates, which might be 40 years old and impossible to validate, I suspect that a recently expired formal test result should be OK. However, it might be an idea making a call to the IRCC call centre (for whatever that's worth).

Note that it didn't say if you "submitted" it in the past for immigration or citizenship purposes but only requires you to have taken the test for either purpose. My understanding is that the test should be specifically for immigration/citizenship e.g. IELTS General vs. IELTS Academic. So, your CELPIP result should be okay. I also agree with the school certificate argument above. Good luck!

All of the above is logic and makes total sense to me.

Thanks for your help :)
Hi

I have the same situation. Were you able to use the expired CELPIP not previously sent?
I would appreciate it if you could tell me about your experience.

Thank you,

David

It works. In our case spouse used her expired IELTS which was never sent to IRCC before.

I am in the same situation I am so worried I have a Celpip General test that I never used it for the PR because I choose a different pathway for PR but I attached the test for the citizenship application the Celpip test is older than 2 years and never used for PR but now my lawyer said that if the test is never used for PR and older than 2 years will not be accepted now I am scared because I have already submitted the citizenship application and he didn’t let me know this information before he went if the justification that “I didn’t know you haven’t used it for the PR” .
Please up to your experience with your wife after she got AOR for the citizenship application after the background and test and all did this did the language step is marked as completed. I am
Scared if I get AOR I pass all this they retune my application at language step please let me know your experience. Please and thank you

You can use any eligible test result with your name on it. Doesn't matter if you have used or not used it before.

Thanks so much the consultant I have that submitted my application said that why I didn’t informed him that I never used Celpip I had few years ago for the PR purpose and made me worried that they might returned it because was older than 2 years and not use before for the Pr but lots of people they are saying that they have used it and now they have their citizenship. Some consultants they give wrong information and that puts people on stress but thanks for replying to my message. This kind of message they make me feel better hopefully everything goes well with my application in the end thanks a lot again

Doing worry. Your consultant seems to be ignorant.

Seriously I completely agree with you what it makes me feel even worst is that you pay them to be stressed sometimes is better to apply by yourself than trust this kind of consultants but you go with the idea that they know what they do and you finish putting yourself in stress anyway thanks a lot for all your help I appreciate a lot
