Expired National Identity Document

Hello everyone,

I am submitting a visitor visa application to visit my brother in Canada. In the portal, it asks to upload NID. Mine is expired. What can I do? Would uploading the one that I have create an issue for me?

I will take quite a while to get a new NID. Should I upload the expired one that I have OR select "do not have NID"? (which allows me to submit my application without it)

Just answer no then. I didn’t put one since I don’t have a valid one.

If you don't mind me asking (without specifics). is your country among the ones that issue NID? Asking as mine is and I know some countries do not have NIDs. Would that cause issue and be grounds for rejection?
