Hi I have recently travelled to Canada without a Visa due to an emergency that happened with a family member,so Air Canada and the Canadian Immigration personnel in Canada made it possible for me to leave Trinidad without the Visa and reach to Canada where the Canadian Immigration within an hour prepared a Temporay Resident Permit for me for three months expiring on the 8/4/2016 multiple entries,so I can be back and forth to be with that family member, that is the most they could have done at the time they told when I came back to Trinidad to apply for my normal visitor Visa to go beyond this TRP expiration date.So I did just that I applied last week here in Trinidad for my Visitor Visa together with my 16yr old son and my Husband,so a few days after I submitted our applications I received an email to collect the passports when I checked my passport have the same TRP but this time not in a letter form in the form of a Visa expiring on the same day as the previous one the Canadian officials gave me which is in one months time,my son and my husband both got Visitor Visas but also expiring in one months time,I could not believe what I was seeing so I tried emailing the embassy and all they told me was that the Visa officers decision is final the file have been closed and I should pay more fees and reapply,so what did I do wrong here don't you reapply when your expiry date is near and should it not be normal to get a new Visa with a different expiry date,I am confused.

The length of the visitor visa is at the discretion of the officer who processes your file.

It's hard to answer your question without additional information.

What evidence did you provide of ties to your home country? This can often influence if and how long you are issued a visitor visa. CIC may have had concerned you were going to be spending too much time in Canada - beyond the needs of your family emergency.

Is the family emergency still ongoing?

Again, difficult to answer without significant additional details.

and yes my family member is now in a rehab center, issues is still ongoing we the whole family were told since there is no other blood relative that lives in Canada at least one family member need to always be there in case any decisions have to be made etc, since my family member cannot write anymore or speak to well at the moment, this individual is paralaysed,so everyone in the family is trying to do a tag team when one goes the other could come back.
