Hey all

New to these forums. Great resource!

Curious on average wait times after fingerprints have been sent in?

Sat test last November. Requested FP in December. Sent in January 12 2016.

Any experiences you guys had recently?

Thanks.

It may take a day or two for those with experience in this to reply.

Reports illustrate that there is wide, wide variability in timelines following such fingerprint requests. I can recall some indicating being scheduled for the oath within a month or two, others taking many, many months.

A lot depends on why they made the fingerprint request in the first place. If it is just to verify identity, that typically results in very little delay. If it for the purpose of conducting background criminal checks abroad, that can take a long while.

If it goes much longer, you may want to consider doing the ATIP request for your records in addition to making telephone inquiries to the IRCC call centre.

Thank u for ur reply.. By many many months u mean approximatly how long??
I mostly mean there is no reliable way to forecast how long processing will take for a non-routine application. It varies from very little delay in processing to months, and sometimes more than a year. A lot depends on why IRCC asked for fingerprints. If you do not already know why they asked for fingerprints you are not likely to find out why.

Not the response you want to hear. But there really is no definitive answer.

The reports are too sketchy to draw reliable conclusions, and IRCC's information about processing-times is way too vague to offer any real information, but my GUESS is that most fingerprint requests do not cause much of a delay. But that really is just a guess.
