My previous company told me they will not give me a reference letter as it is not in their policy. I could not ask my current company for a letter as I could not tell them I am applying for PR. So, for my previous company I sent them a table which included all the information that CIC asked for, and asked them to just mention on email whether that information is correct or not. They were happy to do that. So I saved that email as a PDF document. For my current job, I drafted a letter on a plain paper and mentioned everything that CIC wanted, and wrote the letter from the perspective of a colleague (not HR or a reporting manager). I also attached my offer letters from both these places. Then in my Letter of Explanation, I mentioned my exact situation honestly, and also gave them couple of links to our company's website where they talk about our department and the work that is done for the role that I had an offer letter for.
My application was approved without any issues within a month. It may not be the same in your case, or it may be. The key idea is to just be honest in your application, they consider genuine cases and make exceptions if needed. Let me know if you would like me to share the employment letter that I drafted or the letter of explanation content that I sent.
Nice reply.
I am 37 - and have around 15 years of work ex under my belt.
In the EE profile I have just mentioned the work ex totalling 4-5 years under two different NOC code.
Is that really okay? What if VO says later that you weren’t honest in making your express entry profile and blah blah?
No where in the EE profile it is mentioned to only include data that counts towards my point calculation.
I also have removed my wife’s detailed work experience from the EE profile - as it wasn’t adding any points. For doing so I had to declare she doesn’t have any work experience - in the EE profile page

Should all the experiences listed for which points are to be claimed be have same noc code?
No they can have different NOCs. Make sure the primary one you choose however is for at least one continuous year

I don't see this as an issue at all. I showed 8 years of work experience while I had 5-6 years more experience in other fields. CIC is only interested to know about the experience you have in the field for which you intent to pursue while in Canada (whether or not you actually do that is irrelevant by the way). So, if you showed them that 10 years of experience for Industry 1, while you have 7 more years in Industry 2, it is absolutely fine. because you are not interested as of now to pursue a career in industry 2, and what you're telling Canada is that "I intend to pursue a career in Industry 1", for which you need to prove you have experience for...That's it!

I have a few questions regarding my work experience. I have the following profile:

Company A - Sept 2011 - Jan 2014
Company B - Jan 2015 - June 2015
Company C - July 2015 - Feb 2017
Company D - March 2017 - Jul 2018
Company E - Aug 2018 - Present.

Now i have reference letters and all other supporting documents for company A, B, C and E. I have the following questions:

1) For the CRS points if I just show the work experience for A and C I am above the 3 years stipulation. Now is it possible to just list these work experience in the EE profile and thereby just send reference letters etc for just these 2 job profiles after the ITA?

2) Or should I add all the work experience that I have in the EE profile and send reference letters for just A and C after the ITA and say that I only wish to claim points for this work experience.

Hi,

I am in a similar situation and I will like to know how you resolved yours.
I have about 6 years experience but I only filled my current 4 years experience in the experience section.
My question is, do i still need to provide reference letter for the remaining 2 years experience, even though, i did not claim point for it.
As i still need to include it in my personal history..

Thanks...

Hi,
I am in the exact same situation as you.
My husband is the first applicant so my work experience doesn't give any points.
I was also thinking on take my work experience out and just detail it on the history. Did it work for you?

The only issue that makes me doubt it is that I have to declare that I don't have any experience and then tell that I do have in my personal history.
I would love some advice about it
Thanks

I really liked this revert and it calmed some of my nerves as well. I want to believe that they consider it possitively, but some of the reasons for the rejections that I saw on diffrent forums and websites that people have mentioned, it kind of made me jittery. I did not approached any consultant and had done everything myself by following the instructions to best of my understanding. But again, the reasons of rejections were just horrible to read.

I am happy to read your experience with CIC folks. All the best.

Hi all,

My situation is 8.5 band in ielts, masters degree and enough funds to prove but,

I have 5 years of experience as following

2010 to 2011 - for which i am able to get reference letter , have paystubs, and relieving letter and tax docs (Experience from UK)
2011-2012 - Company has closed down so only offer and relieving letter (no reference letter)
2012-2015 - worked for family business

now if i just show my 1st experience i have got crs of 449...which make me eligible as 1 yr of exp in past 10 years is enough.... so can i show only that and state other 2 in my personal activity section......and explain in LOE . will this work?

Main question is will this old experience be considered by VO. point to be noted is when i creat my ee profile with just 1 year of experience its shows i am eligible, so shoud i go ahead the way i mentioned

please help asap as i am already in the pool and tomorrow is a wednesday:)
Hi did you face any issues for mentioning jobs in personal history?

Hi Del.

I haven't claimed points for my current job still the upload panel for the employment documents states the following:

"
You must provide proof of work experience for your current job and for each past position you listed. Proof must include a reference letter from your employer and pay stubs, if you have them"

I am really confused and have no idea why are they asking my current job's reference letter? Is it mandatory to provide current job reference even if you are not claiming points for the same? I have only mentioned my current job in personal history, and haven't mentioned it in employment history.

Please advise as only 5 days left to submit my AOR.

Thanks in advance.
There are placeholders for her previous employments because you stated her work experience in the work history section. The easiest approach would've been to state them only in the personal history section Post-ITA and leave the work history section blank.

You can still make the change and explain in a LOE the irrelevancy of her foreign work experience.

Hi All,

I am in a similar situation where my past employers are not willing to give me reference letters stating the details asked by CIC and also they say that they cannot have too much content in the letter to explain my duties in detail. However my current employer with whom i have been working for last 5 years is giving me all the details requested by CIC. so my question is should i still list the past companies in my work history or just move them under personal history to avoid any hassle going forward.

Please note my CRS score is 490 now and since i am with the same company from last 5 years my CRS score would remain unchanged even if i don't list my old companies in work history. really need some inputs from experts as even i need to submit my ITA documents by End of week.

Just write your previous work experience in your personal history section. No need to write it in your work history section since you have gotten the maximum points using your current employer.

Just so you know I did same and I have gotten my COPR.. So nothing to be scared of. Good luck

Thank you for your response and All the best to you for further processing of your PR :) But just a question. Did you write any Letter of explanation for not claiming the points for past experience? If so could you please share the template with me. Thanks again for your response and help. Will ping you my email id in person.

You don't need any letter of explanation. I didn't write either. My advice, keep your application simple. Only write LOE when required

Thank you so much for that feedback. I was looking for that piece of information like crazy because I didn't know if I should add my irrelevant extra experiences in to my work history or just mention them in my personal history.

After reading your message, I will only add my 4 years skilled experience into my work history and leave the rest of my experiences to personal history statement as they will give me no extra points. Many thanks...
