Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share my PR Landing experience at Ogdensburg-Prescott on Aug 3rd, 2019.

My timeline looked like this:

Express Entry / CEC/ Inland

ITA: March 20th, 2019
AOR: April 23rd, 2019
MEP: June 3rd, 2019
Ghost Update: June 26th, 2019
PPR: June 27th, 2019
Application approved: July 17th, 2019
CoPR received: Friday 19th, 2019
Landing: Aug 3rd, 2019

I called the IRCC to book my landing interview for the Ottawa office but was directed by a prerecorded message to send an email to IRCC.PRA-RVPR.IRCC@cic.gc.ca to book an appointment. I did so and received an auto reply letting me know that I should receive a response within 30days.

After 2 weeks, I still hadn't heard from them so I decided to head to the nearest border with my friend to flagpole. I took my passport, my CoPR, proof of address, and 2 photos (which I did not need). We arrived at the Ogdensburg-Prescott border at around 11.30am. It was busy because it was a holiday weekend. When we arrived to speak to US customs, the officer was really nice and asked us to park at the side and enter the office. In the office I received a refusal of entry into the US and was directed to head back to the Canadian border.

The Canadian border was empty and we were again directed to park and enter the office building. Inside the building I waited around 5 minutes before being called up. The officer let another officer know that he has refused PR for 3 people today and I was slightly scared after hearing this. The officer took my paperwork, looked it over, asked me 3 questions (have I been charged of a crime, refused entry to Canada, and how many dependents I have), and also asked me how much money I had in my bank account (I logged in and showed him my savings). He then asked me to initial my CoPR, he stamped my passport, and told me 'It's official, you're a permanent resident, welcome to Canada.'

The entire process from arrival to border to approval took approximately 30 mins and was relatively painful.

I hope this has been helpful!

First of all, thank you for sharing your experience, it is very helpful and congratulations for your PR.

As far as I know some ports of entry only do the landing at certain times in the day and certain days in the week, did you call or check if the border is doing the landing in Prescott Port of Entry before you went? And does this port has a U turn before you reach to the US side?

It is now over two weeks and IRCC did not provide me an appointment and I live in Ottawa and I am thinking for doing my landing at Prescott Port of Entry and I am trying to avoid to enter to the US.

I called and they told me I can go in at any time for the Prescott border.
There isn’t a U-turn before, you have to go through the US, they give you a refusal of entry and you do a Uturn back to the Canadian border

Hope this helps!

Hey, Thank you ☺
Yes, I had a valid WP. You can definitely take a rental car and you would see when you're at the US border. You will have to cross the US border before they ask you to turn around to the Canadian one to do landing.
Congratulations !

Do we need to take Photos with us ?
Do they ask address proof ?

I took photos but they didn't ask for them. They do require address proof, I had my Ontario drivers license for that.
I will be driving from Montreal. I have a DL. Just having a fear that they won't create any issue as I am giving them Quebec address.
I had shown intention in PR that i leave Quebec and move to Ontario

I think you may need to go to the Quebec border. There was a woman in front of me who was rejected because her visa was for Quebec even though she had intent to move to Ontario. I would look into that before going to the Ontario border.

She maybe having a CSQ (needed for Quebec) and PR visa....and trying to land in Ontario...
I had a friend in Montreal last year who landed at Prescott.

I will check further in forums about the address.
