I wonder why CHC Islamabad takes such a long time to process files. CHC, India is more fast.

i guess, most of the applicants got their medical call by today...!!
Good luck

lots of ppl guyz received medical calls last week... in one topic i was reading that those who applied on 22nd July they also got the call... i applied on 23rd.. hope 2 get the call in ths week...

The delays are happening because of security checks. You can thank the political situation in Pakistan and its international reputation as a state that sponsors terrorism for this. I sent them an FBI background check certificate which is probably why they called me a bit earlier than some others.

It's just August 1st right now. You guys should write to your universities and say that you might be a week or two late. They shouldn't have a problem -- I've told my uni and they are fine with it. Also ask your unis when the last date is to arrive for the semester before you "forfeit" it, so to speak, so that you know how much leeway your uni is willing to give you.

Finally, I will again recommend that people who haven't gotten medical calls yet cosy up to their graduate program secretaries and ask them to send letters to the CHC asking for expedited processing. I've been told by previous applicants who got Study Permits that if the uni makes it seem like they really want you to come, it will have an effect on processing times.

an 'FBI Background Check Certificate'?!? How do you get that? You from Pakistan?

Yes, I'm from Pakistan.

I went to a police officer in the F-8 markaz kuchehri in Islamabad and had my fingerprints professionally taken. I sent my fingerprints to the FBI. The procedure to get an FBI background check is here:
http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/background-checks

It's not compulsory for everyone to get this done. But I had studied in the US from 2007-2009, which is why it was compulsory for me to get this FBI clearance for the CHC. I'm not sure if the FBI can conduct this background check for people who haven't had resident status in the US at some point ... it doesn't say on their website. But I wouldn't be surprised if you can get it done even without having lived in the US.
