I just got my passport request for visa stamping. My question is, do I really have to exit the border to get my landed status or there is a way that I don't have to. Like, just going to the immigration office and have my passport stamped.
If the case above is possible, which immig office is doing it? is there any in Calgary or Edmonton?

maverick21,congratulations on your passport request :)
can you please share your timeline and job title?

if you just got passport request, first thing to do is follow the instructions on the email you received and you will be fine(you will have to submit your passport to cpp-ottawa for visa stamping) and once you get your passport back with the visa and confirmation of permanent resident then you have to go to the border for landing(if you are in alberta you can go to either caraway or coutts) your other option is to phone cic call center in this number:1 888 242 2100 and book an appointement either in calgary or edmonton office depending in where you live.
please note that booking an appointement for landing at a cic visa office will take few weeks at least 6 thats why people choose to land at the border because its fast, simple and easy.if you don't drive you can take a bus then a cab to the border line.

good luck :)

thanks for the info canadavisa13.

you are welcome maverick21 ;)

just wondering if you are in edmonton, where did you got your medical done and how long it took the doctor to upload the results to cic?
thanks in advance

I am in Calgary area. the doctor we went to is really good and wasting no time in submitting the med result. I did not make any follow coz they said that no news means good news. 2 weeks is the time line they gave to reach cic but seems like its shorter that that coz in 14 after we did our medical, we already got our passport request.

awesome,thank you maverick21.

and good luck with the rest of your application journey, you are close to the finish line.
by the way since you are in calgary its closer to coutts and caraway from edmonton.

Congrats. What does ecas say? Do you know when it was updated?

Hi, which Panel Physician in Calgary did you go for medical exam? I had my medical done On October 21, 2013 and did not hear about the result yet. Still waiting for PPR. I hope and pray I will receive it asap. I went Abolarin Medical Clinic in SE Calgary

I got mine done at Heritage Medical in Edmonton, Dr. Salopek.... Fast, easy and uploaded results 5 days after my appointment. Only thing is you have to go back in to office (no appointment needed) if you want to find out if/when your results were sent to CIC because they won't ell you over the phone.

we went to that same doctor. May be I just got lucky with the officer in charge of my application. you'll have your passport request soon, I bet on that.

You can make an appointment with CIC to land from inside Canada. However I believe it takes a few months for the appointment to be scheduled.

The fastest way to land is to exit and re-enter Canada at a land border.

got my passport returned 2 weeks after I sent it to cic.
does anyone know if the border is open on dec 26? that's the date I am planning to do my landing stamping. thanks.

You should check the website - I suspect it will be open but the website will have more details
