Hello Everyone,
I have applied for my PR under CEC and have received my AOR already and with that AOR I have recently also applied for my BOWP. I am currently unemployed and I am on EI.
I am currently on a Valid Closed Work permit which expires in September 2014.

I live in Toronto, Canada and my friends and me are planning on a trip to Disneyland for a week in the USA, I do have a B1/B2 Visitors Visa for the USA which expires in October 2022 (which was issued in Canada).

We will be traveling my car to go to the USA. I wanted to know if I can exit Canada to go to the USA with my friends and then re-enter Canada safely and without any hassels with immigration at the border.
Or
Is there some kind of Canadian VISA that I would have to apply for to re-enter back into Canada (in addition of the other documents that I already have - which are mentioned above) in addition of the American Visitors Visa (B1/B2 - October 2022) that I already have.

I thank you in advance for your responses and any advice will be greatly appreciated as I prefer to clear all the doubts in my head to avoid any problems with immigration at the borders.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Do you have a valid TRV? You will need that to renter Canada

Hello Aquareo,
No, I do not have a Temporary Resident Visa. I guess that I need to apply for that right now.

I am going to get on it right away.

Thank you.

No, you don't need a TRV if you're only visiting the States and return
before the work permit expires.

From the IRPR:
190. (3) A foreign national is exempt from the requirement to obtain a
temporary resident visa if they are seeking to enter and remain in
Canada solely
[...]

(f) to re-enter Canada following a visit solely to the United States
or St. Pierre and Miquelon, if they

(i) held a study permit or a work permit that was issued before they
left Canada on such a visit or were authorized to enter and remain in
Canada as a temporary resident, and

(ii) return to Canada by the end of the period initially authorized
for their stay or any extension to it;

However, you'll need to tell EI that you're outside the country. You
probably won't be eligible to continue collecting EI during your
absence.

I was a bit confused about whether you'd be eligible for EI since
you're on an employer-specific work permit. However, there is
favourable jurisprudence:

Thank you so much Frege, I will send you a message now.

if you have all the valid papers, I suggest getting the TRV (maybe after you comeback from USA?). Normally they would give you a TRV till your work permit expires, in your case September 2014. It takes around 4-8 weeks normally to get the visa.
