My overall IELTS band Is 7.5

READING 7.0
Listening 7.5
Writing 7.5
Speaking 7.5

According to new changes in FSW....how many points I would be able to get? Because according to new FSW changes the maximum we can score in IELTS is 24 points

Please elaborate with link or reference if possible

Well, the guidelines are not officially out, but based on the expected changes, you will get:

Reading - IELTS band 7 = CLB9 = 6 points
Listening - IELTS band 7.5 = CLB8 = 5 points (you need IELTS 8 for CLB9)
Writing - IELTS band 7.5 = CLB9 = 6 points
Speaking - IELTS band 7.5 = CLB9 = 6 points
Total = 23 points

Links used to determine these scores:
cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5609ETOC.asp#5609E2
(Although this is for Canadian Experience Class, you can scroll down to the section on language requirements to understand the CLB equivalents for IELTS bands. That will be the same for FSW)

gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p1/2012/2012-08-18/html/reg2-eng.html
(Scroll down to the section that talks about current system and proposed changes)

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
Ganman

In the old scheme, one of the examples mentioned "....If you studied less than the number of years listed with your highest degree or diploma, you must award yourself the points that match your years of study. For example, if you have a master’s degree but have completed only 15 years of full-time study, award yourself 22 points...." So, in the old scheme where it was possible to get 25 points for a Masters, they were still dropping it down to 22 points if the number of years of study was only 15 instead of 17.

In the new scheme, the number of years does not seem to be mentioned (yet), and you currently get 23 points. However, it could be broken out in detail when the guidelines are officially published. So, be prepared that they may only allow 21 or 22 points if they also take years into consideration. Also, with the requirement to do an "Assessment of educational credentials", you have to wait and see what the assessment agency equates the Masters degree to.

Cheers Ganman,

To me ...you look like an immigration GURU...wanna ask you 1 more thing

Let's say i get student visa from PAKISTAN valid for 2 years .......and I land in Canada on April 2013 and submit my PR case in May 2013, As I have 67+ points ( I HAVE 7.5 IELTS ....3 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND MASTERS DEGREE ).....will CIC accept my application for processing? Wouldn't they demand from me to complete my degree first?

If answer is still YES then why cic has mentioned on its website that students are eligible for PR only after completion of their respective degress
