eTA delay: stuck in “not started”

Is anybody else experiencing delays in getting your eta approved?
I submitted my application on Aug 12th and the review of my application hasnt even started yet according to the status check tool.
Only two more weeks left before my flight. Anyone else in the same boat as me?

Hey, I'm in the same boat. I applied the 7th of october, still in not started. Has yours been resolved yet and if so how long did it take or are your still waiting?

Also same here, applied sept 8, 2021 and we wrote a webform and they replied generic emAil after 7 days. Until now no new updates.

This is unusual for an eTA. Is there anything in your background that make your application non-standard? Past criminal charges or conviction? Past refugee or H&C claims? Something like that? ETAs are typically only held up like this when there is something concerning in the applicant's background.

Eu e meu esposo estamos há mais de 50 dias aguardando o ETA de nossos filhos (nós já temos nossas devidas autorizações). Nossos filhos têm 9 e 5 anos, não entendemos o motivo da demora.
E nosso voo será em 26/11. Situação preocupante.

Eu também não entendo. Não tenho antecedentes criminais em meu país e no Canadá. Visitei o Canadá várias vezes para visitar minha esposa e filhos e parece-me aleatório que minha inscrição precise ser analisada por um oficial. Já ouvi falar de outros casos que levaram até 6 meses para serem aprovados. Espero que sua inscrição seja aprovada em breve! (traduzido pelo google)

Yes, we had an experience of removal order for 1 year. But it’s been 2 years now since the ban was lifted. Did you had any history too?

Because of the removal order, your application is unfortunately non-standard. Anything non-standard is taking much much longer to process these days which unfortunately makes it super hard to guess how long you'll be waiting. Do not book any tickets. You may still have a few months to wait before you have an answer.

She doesn’t have any criminal charges for sure, but she had visitor visa refused previously.

Yes, I consulted a lawyer and they said the same thing. We don’t have any criminal charges history. And it was unfortunate that because of that removal order history from Canada, it’s taking longer now. The first application of ETa was refused and we waited for 3 months just to get refusal. This second application is another trial.

Can I ask, what was the reason for the removal?

It's unfortunate to hear the first eTA was refused. That doesn't necessarily bode well for the second. But there's always hope. Good luck.

One month waiting, still in "Not started". Was onced fined for possession of Cannabis in Norway so I put that in there and that probably makes it a non-standard ETA so I've been told it could take months. This is ridiculous.

Hey Scylla I see you are the one most active around this sub. My ETA got refused today, but they give no reason. What do I do?
Email says:
Following an assessment of your application, it has been determined that you do not meet the requirements for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA). Please see the attached document for the reasons why your eTA was refused.
And the attachment says:
You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee.

Nothing on why??? I am double vaccinated and reuniting with my girlfriend and I have sent the extra form to prove it??
