Hi guys,

Me and my husband are planning to file an application under Federal skilled worker (Express Entry) scheme in November this year (2018). We both meet all the required criteria i.e. Education, Work Experience, English proficiency, Age etc.
We are basically from Pakistan but currently residing in Malaysia for the past 7 years.
We have a 3 years old son as well.
However, we have a question on what is accepted as Proof of Funds (POF).
Me and my husband collectively will have around CAD $10K cash by November in our bank accounts which is less than the required sum of money (CAD $19K+ since we a 3 year old son as well). We both have our Employee Provident Fund (EPF) active at the moment and collectively we will have around (CAD $30K) by the time we file our application. I would like to know if EPF is accepted as proof of funds for our application. We can withdraw this amount very easily as soon as we decide to end our employment contract in Malaysia. We can request our Financial institution to give us a detailed letter on our EPF money stating that it can be released as soon as we decide to leave Malaysia. Can you please suggest if EPF can be used as proof of funds.

EPF can be used as Proof of Funds followed by a certificate from that financial institution including the withdraw-able amount.

Its pension. Can you withdraw tomorrow, if required?

Its the contributory pension system after 2004 for govt./semi govt. employees like EPF. I think partial withdrawal (20% of the contribution) is allowed at the time of exit.

If you can withdraw in a day, then you can show as POF else you can not.

Just to add to what Mr Preet has mentioned, you would need a letter or certificate from the Financial body where your pension account is mentioning the amount that is available to be withdrawn and by what time period.....

Hi all, is it alright to show downloads from my epf website showing my current balance, last 6 month statement and how much I would be taxed if I withdraw instead of a letter. Also may I show CAD16 000 in epf and CAD2 000 in cash? So the total balance would be CAD18 000.

No. You should not.
Oh really :confused:mr. Preetsingh? I have a massive amount in my EPF in Sri lanka. The EPF act mentions that we can withdraw upon confirmation of PR. Can I show screenshot of the act as a supporting?

UPDATE:
First hand report. I successfully got my PR in January 2019 using India EPFO statement as Proof of fund. Keep in mind that in my case I got a letter from the PF commissioner that the funds belong to me and there is no lien. Also, my entire fund requirement was not from EPF - It was only about 60% of the requirement.
