Hi all,

I just graduated from my school (4-year) and got a confirmation letter from the school. I am planning to apply for the PGWP online in these few days. My wife is currently holding a OWP and will apply for a joining visitor. Since I am planning to go back to my home country, I don't know if my wife and I can come back to Canada with my SP and OWP (valid until Sep 2014) and her OWP (valid until Sep 2014) with the PGWP and her new status in process. To make it simple....

Dec 28, 2012: apply for my PGWP and her new visitor status in Canada online (mail address in Canada, maybe a very good friend)
Dec 30, 2012: fly back to my home country
Jan 15, 2013: fly to Canada with my SP & OWP and her OWP, start working in a company
Feb or Mar 2013: get the new PGWP and my wife's new status from my friend

Or another possibility: just leave Canada without applying for PGWP, and then re-enter Canada with those mentioned permits and my confirmtion letter from school, and then apply for PGWP (and her new status) in Canada online. This will be better for sure if both of us can still enter Canada. My concern will be that I have graduated and I don't know if we can still use SP (or OWP) to enter Canada.

Which will work? Please advice (both of us do not need visa to enter Canada).

Merry Christmas! Thank you.

Hello,

I have the same scenario. I am already graduated but my study permit expires in March 31. I have also applied for PGWP recently. I want to visit my home country. My TRV has expired and I want to apply for that now on the basis of study permit to go back and come again.

My doubt 1) Can I now apply for TRV on basis of study permit and come back again
2) What happens when my PGWP comes at a Canadian address.? Will my TRV be still valid untill March 31 in that case and do I need PGWP in my hand while entering border?

Please helpp!!!

1. You need a TRV to enter Canada, not a Permit.

1. Your entry visa will only be valid as long as your study permit is.
2. You only need to have a vaild entry visa if you plan to leave Canada and come back again.
3. Immigration may question the purpose of your visit to Canada (while you re-enter) and a job offer or current employment may indicate that you are able to support yourslef while in Canada.

Work Permit after Graduation

Hi,
I think you can help me out.
I found you in the forum having same kind of status & situation some months before, please do help me out in my situation.

My husband is on Student Visa in Vancouver, Canada and I am on Student Dependent Visa with Open Work Permit.
I am here in Vancouver from March 2012 and I started working as a Security Guard from June 2012 till today. My husband is also working as a Part Time Security Guard with Off Campus Work Permit from the year 2011 onward.

We both extended our Visa by October 2012, successfully
  • My husband's off campus work permit, study permit & student visa got extended until August 31, 2013
  • My Dependent Visa & Open Work Permit got extended until August 31, 2013

Now my husband is going to finish off his studies (Masters in Business Administration) and he will get 2 to 3 years of Work Permit.
My doubts are:
  • Whether my Open Work Permit will get extended or I will become a Dependent without Work Permit?
  • To extend my Open Work Permit can I apply together with my husband's Work Permit Application or I have to apply separately?
  • Do we need to apply online (electronically) or paper format (download, complete & mail)?
  • If I want to extend my Open Work Permit in any other way please guide me....

Thanks,
Lekshmi
