Folks, got a question and see if anyone has been through this.

Imagine you present two passports at the time of the Entry. One is expired and the other one is the renewed one. The officer stamps on the 'expired' one. All other stamps (entry and exits during this trip) are on the renewed one. Will this be an issue? The names on both the passports are slightly different as well. The Immigrant visa is on the expired passport and the name on the expired passport matches with the one on the PR card. Please advise if this has happened to you and if there is any issue (potential).

Later,

Are you saying that the officer stamped a passport that was already expired at the time he/she stamped it? And was this officer a Canadian official or somewhere else?

yes and at the Toronto Airport.

Well, I'd say that the officer screwed up and it is their fault, not yours. I'd say the officer is in more trouble than you :)

As for if it would have any impact to you, if also had a valid passport at the time then i would say that it is ok. But just my own opinion.

okay - do i need to explain this anywhere or you think its self explanatory... do i need to make it obvious that the entry stamp is on that 'passport' so that they are not looking for it in the wrong shop?

WHY WOULD YOU PRESENT 2 PPORTS AT THE BORDER ????? You have a renewed one with the PR card you didn't have to show the expired one at all. This may cause some delay to your application from cic to check or you know what, add a note to your application explaining what you just said in this post. Hopefully this will save u some time.

The only time CIC would notice is at the interview when they look at your stamps. You can explain the whole situation there.

Later,

Hello - I believe this is normal as in my case when I landed the visa was on my expired passport and they stamped that passport.

Thanks
Atif

it's a non-issue. i have the same and the officers don't really care.

Thank you all. I am positive this is not going to be an issue but just thought to ask. Thanks for your feedback and comment.
As for why showing two passport: Because I had two different names, the name on the expired passport had the immigrant visa and the PR card macthed that one. New Passport because is not expired and it says that I 'previously' had the other passport (the # and details). linked.

have yourselves a nice and safe weekend.
