Entry Record from USA

I have received RQ and a request to provide consent to get entry record from CBSA during 2013 April. I have passed the test at St. Clare office on February 7th 2014. During the document review they requested for entry record from USA. I have created an FOIA request to get the same. As per FOIA, the processing time is around 12 months.
I have made around 10 road trips USA to visit my relatives for various occasions in the last 4 years and I have mentioned the same in RQ. In order to know the details of the entry record from CBSA, I also applied to get the same through ATIP. The result I have received was disappointing. They don’t have record for most of my entries. More over me and wife has difference in date of entry even though we travelled together all the time. I have questioned the same and they responded that entry record for road trips to Canada will not be accurate.
In this case, even if I receive the USA entry record in 12 months, it won’t match with Canadian entry or my RQ.

Anyone has any advice on this situation? How I can get the US entry record faster? Any other option other than FOIA?

Someone posted a rumour on one of these forums that you could go to a larger US border crossing station and try to get a manager to do it there, though I have seen no documentation or even anecdotal verification of that option. If you try this option, please report back here regarding its effectiveness.

In general, you need to make a diligent effort to get this document released (i.e. make the application, keep records of it, and if you're a US citizen, contact your congressperson after you've been waiting for a bit to see if they can inquire regarding the ETA), but, if you do everything you can, you should not be held responsible for the US government's inability to provide this document. It's not in your control.

You can't produce a document that does not exist, and until the US gov creates the record of movement, it does not exist.

It's floating around in other threads, but, just for the fun of it:

Aug. 2004- 3 year masters student visa
Nov. 2007- NAFTA (TN) work visa
Nov. 2008 - PR granted (family class)
July 2011 - cit application received
Nov. 2012 -cit app in process
Nov. 15 2012 - RQ sent
early Jan. 2013 - RQ response returned
Nov. 2013 - PR card finally renewed/released at office (triggered re-triage of RQ risks and returns my cit app to "normal" processing stream)
Feb. 2014 - citizenship test

You mentioned 12 months period, is that routine wait time to get the report in every case or just for those people with missing entries??....I dont find any such timeline to get FOIA, they mentioned in days........where these 12 months coming from.

I heard if u r requested to submit US entry record, u r doomed. cuz so far i havent seem a single successful case that they able to obtain the report they need.
saw no follow up on how those applicants following through the process. i hope you can keep us posted.
this is the most frustrating part of process, that cic asking for documents that is almost impossible to obtain!
and why is it so hard to prove to them that u have lived in Canada for 1095 days.

Is there any way of getting this report in person from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection at one of the border crossing?
Like Niagra - Buffalo crossing? Im sure there is a faster way of getting this report as 1 year of processing is just too long...

I have received my US-CBP report and submitted it with my initial application. Please find my following steps
1. I made an foia online request with simple regular processing. The automated timeline said 20 business days.
2. after 20 business days there was no response it was still in submitted status.
3. I tried contacting US CBP by googling one address after another. Then after sometime I got hold of some CBP laison officer (dhs.gov/foia-contact-information)
4. She asked me to change the request to expedited processing.
5. The system would not let me change the request to expedited processing. I created a new request and referenced the old request no in it.
6. It was denied and the officer who denied asked me to make an appeal (which sends the process to another department). In my appeal
7. I pointed out that I have a need for it to be a supporting document on my Canadian Citizenship Application and also the CBP officer who rejected the expedited processing pointed out that it has taken more than 20 business days for any change in the request.
8. Then I got back response with a pdf of all my entry and exits. The report is a little confusing but I suggest to send everything back to CIC and they may be dealing with it on a daily basis and they can make sense head and tail of it.

I do not say the above steps will work for everyone but no harm in trying.

This is for ATIP request. This will give only the Canadian entry record. I am looking for US entry record.

I tried the same. I went to Buffalo US border and requested the same. They said they cannot issue entry record and they will not keep a history, they will keep only last few trips. More over they are not authorized to provide this information.

I want to get this in 45 days, but when I called them, they updated that due to backlog, it will be delayed up to 12 months
