I completed my course in August and applied for my PGWP in November. As per the processing times right now, I don't expect the approval before March. I want to travel to India for 2 months and am worried about the re-entry rules in Canada. I check the IRCC website and it states that the work-permit holders who generally live in Canada can enter without any letter, or they have show a letter of introduction and a job offer. I am not currently employed so was skeptical if I will be allowed re-entry into Canada.
Please advise on the same.

You can re-enter as long as you have a valid TRV.

Thanks for the response. Do I have to apply for the TRV or the work-permit will act as a TRV?
Yes you have to apply for one, work permit alone won’t help, you need a valid TRV to return to Canada. Better to get a valid TRV approved before leaving as applying for TRV from India might take longer processing time.

Is TRV the normal visitor visa or there is a different process to apply for it?

You will UNLIKELY allowed to enter Canada as you do not meet requirements to travel to Canada as International Student. You can apply from outside and if you meet criteria to travel to Canada as non-essential traveler, then you will be allowed to. But most likely you will not.
