Hi I was wondering if anyone has a similar situation to my spouse and I. I am a Canadian citizen who has applied for spousal/family sponsorship for my husband who is a holder of a Bosnian passport, we have been waiting since last November for him to be approved for his visa and today have gotten the email to send in his passport for the visa and arrival date into Canada. I am currently pregnant and due in a month or less and we were hoping we would have been in Canada by then to avoid the complications and having to apply for a visa for the baby. As I could not fly prior due to my pregnancy being high risk I had to stay in bosnia with him and will be giving birth here. I wanted to know how long does it usually take for an infant to get approved for a visa and if there is any chance that my spouses arrival/entrance into Canada could be extended until the baby gets approved as well so we could all go together.

Basic instructions on how to apply for citizenship and travel passport for the child:

I found this for the embassy in Rome, you'd need to do for whichever covers where you are.

COPRs generally cannot be extended.

Right now proof of citizenship applications are taking close to a year. You will want to apply for that after your child is born but also apply for a temporary passport for your child so that you can relocate to Canada sooner, and not wait for proof of citizenship.

Also just to clarify that you were born in Canada or naturalized for your child to have Canadian citizenship.

Did your application specify that you are living in Bosnia?
